While the Auburn Tigers will be looking to continue their quest for a Number 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Florida is simply hoping to stay alive for any bid of any seed for the Big Dance.
Following a four-game winning streak in late January that spilled into February, the Gators have lost two in a row to fall to 16-10 overall. Further damaging Florida’s chances are its 1-6 record against Quad 1 competition and that doesn’t bode well today against Auburn, which has been one of the top teams in the country all season.
These two teams met back on January 8th in Auburn in a game the Tigers won handily, 85-73, as an 8-point favorite. That game also went flying over the total of 142, but that may have been as a result of the refs calling a very tight game, leading to a combined 39 fouls and 50 free throw attempts.
With Florida playing much better defense in recent games, leading to four straight unders, and the fact that we don’t expect the same kind of game called by this officiating crew, we like this game to go back to the norm and be played under the total.
