CLEMSON ODDS TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIP | PREDICTION NCAA FOOTBALL | OSB
Clemson Odds To Win Championship Prediction
The Clemson Tigers didn’t end the 2020 season with a National Championship, but they had an incredible year. They finished the season 10-2 overall, going 9-1 in the ACC. They also made the College Football Playoffs for the sixth consecutive time. Now, fans are wondering exactly what they should expect from one of the best teams in College Football. They lost their superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence to the NFL Draft. So where can they go from here?
More importantly, are they worth placing money on to be in your 2021 National Championship Predictions? They’re definitely a strong team, even without Lawrence, but how far can they go? If you ask Head Coach Dabo Swinney, expectations are high for his Tigers. Of course, that’s to be expected from a coach but you as a better have to determine the believability. That’s why we’re going to take a look at some changes in the roster and determine the best bet on Clemson in 2021.
Lawrence Isn’t The Only Player Clemson Lost
It’s tough when your entire team is built around this once-in-a-lifetime quarterback because once he’s gone, the team suffers. That’s currently the situation the Clemson Tigers are in right now. Losing Trevor Lawrence is a significant loss but it’s not just him they’ll be missing. RB Trevor Etienne also entered the draft and now plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars along with Lawrence.
So, where does this leave the Clemson Tigers? Although expectations are still high, we should expect some drawbacks in their offensive firepower. The good news is, this setback shouldn’t destroy them in 2021. They have a competent replacement for Lawrence this season, D.J Uiagalelei, who has per BetOnline +700 odds to win the Heisman Trophy this year. Since the defense has been left somewhat intact, they can really focus on developing the offensive players remaining.
Even With Key Losses, Clemson’s A Favorite
You’d imagine that with a superstar quarterback and running back duo, their chances would fall. Not for Clemson, who has the second-best odds to win the National Championship in 2021. Following very closely behind Alabama, the Clemson Tigers are +400 to win the National Championship. This is mostly due to their consecutive playoff appearances, and the coaching ability of Dabo Swinney.
The question that gets asked now, is whether he can out coach Nick Saban? A good way for us to tell the real strength of the Clemson Tigers is when they face Georgia in the first game of the season. Georgia’s another contender for the National Championship and has a history against Clemson.
Our Take On Clemson & The National Championship
As it stands, even with the second-best odds the Clemson Tigers won’t be winning the National Championship in 2021. Sure they’ve got some great replacements filling the role of quarterback and running back, but that’s the problem. The guys filling the shoes of Lawrence and Etienne will need at least a year before producing at the same level.
We understand that per BetOnline, they’re given the second-best odds to win the National Championship but they’re just not ready yet. Come back and check in for the Odds to win NCAA Football Championship 2022, and that may be a different story. They are, however, a great option to take to win the conference.
