Ok, let’s get to our Alabama vs Florida picks.
We do not typically like to lay over two touchdowns on the road, especially in conference play, but this is a situation that we think warrants it here today as we’re expecting a complete mismatch.
Alabama, as usual, is absolutely loaded on both sides of the ball and while the Tide barely escaped in their win over the Gators in last year’s SEC Championship Game when they prevailed 52-46 as a 17-point favorite, the Florida offense is a shell of last year’s team. Not only did they lose starting QB Kyle Trask — who was a Heisman finalist — but they also lost their top three receivers from a year ago and all four of those players were drafted. With Trask gone, Florida has been using two quarterbacks this season — Emory Jones and freshman Anthony Richardson — and both of these young QBs depend on their legs as much as their arms. If there’s one thing we learned from Alabama’s blowout win over Miami-Florida two weeks ago, the Tide’s linebackers are nasty and fast and will not be beat by a mobile QB.
So far this season, the Gators have been relying heavily on their powerful running game, but if Alabama gets a big lead early — as we expect — that is going to pose a big problem for the Florida offense and, as a result, this one could get ugly.
Despite that close game in last year’s SEC Championship, Nick Saban and the Tide have covered seven of the last 10 meetings between these two teams and they’ll bring home the cash again today.
So, for our Alabama vs Florida picks today we’re going to lay the points on the road with the Tide.
