This is a very exciting game that we are going to see here. The defending champion Warriors are facing off of against the new look Lakers. The Warriors have not had the season they were envisioning when entering the year. They are 28-27 on the season and have been average the entire season. They are the nine seed in the West. If you thought this was bad, it gets worse for the Warriors. They just received word that the reigning Finals MVP, Stephen Curry, is going to be out about a month after doing ligament damage to his knee. The Warriors will now be without the best shooter in history and their best player. They are also dealing with some turmoil as a big four team trade they made at the deadline has been halted as the main piece they traded for in Gary Payton Jr. did not pass his physical for the Warriors. The Warriors now have a day to decide whether they want to accept the trade.
The Lakers are 25-31 on the season. They have now lost three straight games and six of their last ten. They are the 13 seed in the West. Unlike the Warriors though they are getting some reinforcements. The Warriors made a huge deadline deal as they dealt away Russell Westbrook and got back a plethora of young players headlined by D’angelo Russell. This should give this team a great boost. They are only five games back of the four seed so they can make up a lot of ground seeding wise if they get hot.
I like the Lakers here. The Warriors were just devastated by this Stephen Curry news and the Lakers made a ton of upgrades at the deadline. I think the Lakers know how big a stretch of this is for them and their playoff hopes and I think the new additions make them a legitimate title contender. Look for the Lakers to surprise some people in this one. Final Score Prediction: Lakers 122-115
