Victor Wembanyama Makes His NBA Debut
In what has become arguably the most anticipated debut since Lebron James, San Antonio Spurs No. 1 overall draft pick, Victor Wembanyama, will be on the court for his first official NBA game Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. Wembanyama, or Wemby, has been touted as one of the most unique basketball talents the NBA has ever seen. The 19-year old point-forward plays like no one else in the world, using his staggering size (7’ 4”) and incredible wingspan (8’ 0”) to great effect. He will certainly be a joy to watch, but other than Wemby, the Spurs don’t have much going for them.
San Antonio finished near the bottom of the league last season, posting a 22-60 record, their worst finish since 1997 under head coach Gregg Popovich. The addition of Victor Wembanyama is certainly a step in the right direction, but one player doesn’t make a team, and the Spurs will continue to struggle. San Antonio is taking on the Dallas Mavericks, who have superstar Luka Doncic, as well as a solid cast of supporting players, like Kyrie Irving, Grant Williams, and Tim Hardaway Jr, who pull focus away from Doncic and open up the floor. In this Mavs versus Spurs matchup, Wembanyama will get all the attention, but Dallas will get the win.
So for our Mavericks vs. Spurs expert pick, take the Dallas Mavericks Moneyline (-170) in their season opener on Wednesday.
