Matchup: Brooklyn Nets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

The NBA regular season is back in action, and this Saturday we’ll see the Brooklyn Nets taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nets are in a 3-game skid, and lost 7 of their last 10, putting them outside Play-In qualification at 11th in the East. The Timberwolves on the other hand continue to thrive, and after winning 4-straight, Minnesota sits atop the Western Conference standings. The Timberwolves are heavily favored over the struggling Nets, as Brooklyn faces an uphill climb on the road against the best in the West. However, in their first meeting Brooklyn narrowly lost to Minnesota, nearly upsetting the heavily favored Timberwolves in a 96 to 94 cross conference duel.

The NBA can be unpredictable, but we’re here to help. Below you’ll find our picks for the Nets vs. Timberwolves, including stats, scores, and betting advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips that ensure a great payout for this Nets vs. Timberwolves matchup.

Nets vs. Timberwolves History

Starting in 1989 with their first all-time matchup, the Nets and Timberwolves have faced each other 66 times in the regular season, and never once in the playoffs. Saturday will mark the 67th meeting, as the Timberwolves look to increase their series lead. Minnesota is 38-28 against the Nets, winning approximately 57% of their matchups with Brooklyn. Of course the Nets weren’t always in Brooklyn, as the franchise began in New Jersey, where they played until 2012. The Nets have been in Brooklyn for 12 years now, while the Timberwolves have been in Minnesota since their founding.

Nets vs. Timberwolves Game Predictions

The Timberwolves are heavily favored in this one, and I’m following the trend. Take Minnesota to win the game and cover the spread against Brooklyn on Saturday. The Nets are clearly outmatched here, mostly because they’ll be on the road. Brooklyn has won just 32% of their away games, while Minnesota has won 79% of their home games.

Moreover, the Timberwolves have the best defense in the NBA, allowing the fewest opponent points per game at 106.7. The Nets are in a shooting slump, averaging a lowly 101.4 points per game in their last 5. Brooklyn is unlikely to break out of their slump against the best defense in the NBA, so Minnesota is clearly the pick in this one.

Here are my picks for the Nets vs. Timberwolves Saturday night matchup:

  • Moneyline Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves (-305)

If you take the Timberwolves Moneyline (-305): You risk $305 to win $100, for a total payout of $405, if the Timberwolves win straight up.

  • ATS Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves (-7.5)

If you take the Timberwolves to Cover the -7.5 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Timberwolves win the game by at least 8 points.

  • O/U Pick: Over

If you take the Over on 216.5 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Nets and Timberwolves combine for more than 216 points.
