Thunder Take-On The Champs
The Denver Nuggets are scheduled for a Western Conference showdown with the Oklahoma City Thunder, as the race for the “Best in the West” heats up. The Nuggets are currently 2nd in the West, while the Thunder are in 3rd place, just half a game behind Denver. The Nuggets are 1-2 against the scrappy Thunder this season, but after winning back-to-back games against quality opponents (76ers and Bucks), Denver is on a roll. Conversely, OKC is on a 2-game skid, which includes a 16-point loss to the last place Pistons.
The odds are pending, so we don’t know who will be favored, but I like the Denver Nuggets regardless of what the oddsmakers eventually say. These are two evenly matched teams, and while OKC has certainly impressed this season, the Nuggets are the safer bet. Denver’s starters are all healthy, while OKC could be without their 2nd-best scorer Jalen Williams. Williams is questionable for Wednesday after rolling his ankle late in Monday’s loss to Minnesota. Williams averages 18.7 points per game, and will be sorely missed if he can’t go against Denver. Denver’s Jamal Murray (21.4 PPG) and Nikola Jokic (26.3 PPG) remain one of the best one-two punches in the NBA, and while Shai-Gilgeous Alexander (31.3 PPG) is quickly becoming a household name, SGA can’t do it alone, especially against the reigning champions.
So for our Nuggets vs. Thunder expert pick, take the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
