Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Clippers: Game 4
By Sam Batz
The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers continue their First Round series on Saturday, April 22nd with Game 4 in LA (3:30 PM EST, TNT). The Suns lead 2-1 and are the projected winners of the series. They beat the Clippers 129-124 at home in Game 3, and enter Game 4 as -6 point favorites. Los Angeles stole Game 1, but have since fallen off, and are now +6 point underdogs. The series may be closer than many anticipated, but Phoenix has come alive in Game’s 2 and 3, putting up over 120 points in both games.
The Phoenix Suns (-250)
Phoenix entered the playoffs as the No. 4 seed after going 45-37 (54.9%) during the regular season. The Suns went on a 10 year hiatus from the postseason from 2011-2020, but have since qualified for the playoffs in the last 3 consecutive years. Phoenix even went to the Finals in 2021, but fell to the Milwaukee Bucks in 6 Games. The Suns have the same core players as they did in 2021, but have just a 15% chance to make it to the Finals. Against the Clippers however, Phoenix is highly likely to get past them (87% likelihood), especially if they continue to win the turnover battle, and shoot as well as they have from the field.
The Los Angeles Clippers (+200)
The Clippers secured the No. 5 seed in the West after going 44-38 (53.7%) this season. They missed the playoffs in 2022 after going 42-40, but have been in the postseason 8 of the last 10 years. The last time LA was in the playoffs, in 2021, they were knocked-out by none other than the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference Finals. The Suns beat the Clippers in 6 games, and unfortunately, LA is looking down the barrel of a similar fate once again. The Clippers have a 13% chance to make it to the next round, and after losing back-to-back games where they allowed 120+ points to Phoenix, it looks like the sun is setting once again on the Clippers season.

Suns vs. Clippers: Best Player Props
Kevin Durant (Suns Power Forward): Under 28.5 Points
KD joined the Suns just before the trade deadline, but due to injury, played just 8 games with Phoenix during the regular season. Miraculously, Durant went 8-0 and averaged 26.0 points per game. Game 1 against the Clippers was his first loss with Phoenix, but he rallied, and enters Game 4 with a 10-1 record (including playoffs) with his new team. Durant is averaging 26.7 points per game against the Clippers, which is a very respectable average, but I don’t anticipate him going over 28.5 points in Game 4.
Devin Booker (Suns Shooting Guard): Over 30.5 Points
Devin Booker is on fire! He is averaging an outstanding 36.3 points per game in the playoffs. He recorded 45 points in Game 3, and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. He led the Suns in points per game (27.8) during the season, and is Phoenix’s go-to man on offense. Booker can score from anywhere and isn’t afraid to take the tough shots. He’s also been a monster on defense, averaging 2.7 steals and 1.7 blocks. The kid can do it all and I expect him to go over 30.5 points in Game 4.
Suns vs. Clippers Game 4 Prediction
Take Phoenix to win Game 4. The Suns will take a 3-1 series lead, and head back to Phoenix in a great position to win the series. The Clippers are without their best player, Kawhi Leonard, who’s injury has been deflating for Los Angeles. Leonard is a beast on both ends of the court, and without him the Clippers will struggle. Phoenix has everything you’d want in a playoff contender, and although they can falter on the road, they will win Game 4.
Prediction: Phoenix Suns Moneyline (-250)
