The Sixers Look Strong
In just 13 games, the Philadelphia 76ers have already separated themselves as one of the best teams in the NBA. The Sixers are 10-3, giving them the 2nd-best record in the East. Philly won 8 of their last 10, and are coming off back-to-back wins on the road. Now the Sixers return to Philadelphia to face the Cleveland Cavaliers tomorrow night for a group stage matchup. The Cavaliers got off to a slow start, posting a 4-6 record through their first 10 games. But Cleveland is starting to turn things around, and after winning 3 straight, the Cavs are now 7-6.
I like the 76ers in this one. Cleveland is dealing with several key injuries, most notably Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging 29.2 points, but missed Sunday’s game because of a hamstring issue. Mitchell remains a game time decision for tomorrow, but if he can’t play, the Cavs backcourt will be short handed. You need your best players on the court against the Sixers.
The Cavs upset the Nuggets 121-109 without Mitchell on Sunday, but I don’t see them doing that again, especially on the road against Philadelphia. The Sixers scored 120+ points in 4 of their last 5 games, while Cleveland has 120+ points just 3 times all season. The Cavs won’t be able to keep up with Philadelphia’s offense, and the Sixers will record another win.
