The 2023 NBA Season Tips-Off Tomorrow
The Los Angeles Lakers will take on the reigning champion Denver Nuggets in the opening matchup of the 2023 NBA season. Last year, the Nuggets won the franchises first NBA title, beating the Miami Heat 4-1 in the Finals. Denver went 53-29 overall, but were 34-7 in Ball Arena, which is a win-rate of over 80% at home. The Lakers will look to hand the defending champs a season opening loss, but with the way the Nuggets play at home, that’s much easier said than done.
I like Denver in this one. The Nuggets were nearly unbeatable at home last season, and I don’t expect that to change this year. 2x NBA MVP and 2022 Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic, nearly averaged a triple-double per game last season, and will look to lead the Nuggets to another championship. Lebron James, at the ripe age of 38, remains one of the best players in the NBA. James, along with 8x NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, will look to lead the Lakers against the formidable Nuggets, but Denver is just too good at home, and the NBA Champs will open their season with a win over LA.
