After Games 1 and 2 in this series, it seemed like it might get ugly for the Mavericks fast. The simple reason for that was because Luka was doing Luka things, averaging 40-8.5-7.5 in those first two games, leading his team in all three of those stat categories in each game. But besides Luka’s amazing play, he had no help from anyone else, beside Maxi Kleber in game 1 who had 19 points in 25 minutes. The main two players who Luka needed help from were the second and third options on his team, Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie. That’s exactly what he got in Game three, and was the reason they won.
Luka did what he does putting up 26, 12, and 9, but it was Jalen Brunson who led the team in points with 28. They need that from him as he averaged 28 in the entire first round against the Jazz. The Mavs don’t need 40 a game from Luka to win, they need 25 from him and then one other 20 point scorer along with playing their lockdown defense that ranked top 5 throughout the season. With all this being said, Mavs +1 is a trap line. The Suns had their worst game of their entire playoffs with their first game shooting under 50% from the field as a team. Expect a bounceback wn for the Suns.
