Sixers Looking to Extend Winning Streak to Eight | Magic vs 76ers | OSB

Orlando Magic at Philadelphia 76ers

By Sam Batz

magic vs 76ers

The Orlando Magic travel to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Monday, Jan. 30th to face the red-hot 76ers. The Magic and the Sixers are at opposite ends of the Eastern Conference standings. This is not an evenly matched game and the Sixers will be heavily favored. The odds to win the NBA Finals is a good way to show the difference in skill between these two sides, as the 76ers are +1400 while the Magic are +100000. It would be a huge upset if Orlando beat the Sixers, and while not impossible, it is highly unlikely.

The 76ers are 32-16 and are currently the 2 seed in the East. They are coming off an impressive win over the top team in the West, the Denver Nuggets. Philadelphia beat Denver 126-119 during rivalry week, extending their winning streak to seven, the longest current streak in the league. Joel Embiid had a monster game against Denver, recording 47 points, 18 rebounds, and 5 assists. Embiid is the heart and soul of the Sixers this year and is building a strong case for the MVP. He currently has the second best odds (+275) to win the league’s most sought-after individual award. With the way Embiid and the Sixers are playing, they will crush Orlando, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Embiid go for 40+ points and 15+ rebounds.

The Magic are having an off year once again, as they are 19-31 and 13th in the East. They have lost their last two games and are 4-6 in their last 10. Orlando is led by their youngest player, 20-year old first overall draft pick Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 20.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. They also have Markelle Fultz, another past first overall draft pick, but Fultz has been disappointing at times, averaging 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. Regardless, Orland has six players averaging double-digit points per game, yet they have struggled to win games, averaging just 111.1 points per contest. They will need to play their best game of the season in order to beat the Sixers on Monday.

Magic vs. 76ers All-Time Series

With a win over the Magic, the Philadelphia 76ers have clinched the Eastern Conference's top seed - Liberty Ballers

The Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers have played a total of 127 regular season games. They have met twice this season, with the Sixers taking home the win in both games. In fact, the Sixers have won the last 10 matchups with the Magic. However, Orlando holds the series lead with 79 wins, while the Sixers trail with 48 wins.

In their last meeting, Philadelphia beat the Magic by a whopping 30-points, winning 133-103 in Orlando. Now, it’s the Magic’s turn to hit the road, as they head to Philadelphia where the Sixers are 19-7 and averaging 116.1 points per home game.

Prediction

The Sixers will win this game and secure their eighth straight victory. Philadelphia is on fire right now, going 9-1 in their last 10 and averaging an incredible 121.1 points per game during their seven game winning streak. The Orlando Magic allowed 117.7 points to their opponents in their last 10 games, and they do not travel well, posting an abysmal 6-18 record in away games. The Magic don’t have the talent to keep up with a team like the Philadelphia 76ers, and will likely lose their third straight game on Monday.

Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers Cover and the Over.
