This playoff series truly has been a confusing one. In the first three games of the series, when Luka Doncic felt the Suda, the Utah Jazz were heavy favorites, and yet were only able to cover their spread once in game one, when there were only five and a half point favorites. In games two and three, as even bigger favorites, not only did they fail to cover their spread, they lost outright to a Dallas Mavericks team without their star. Then in game four, when Luka Doncic played and The Mavericks were expected to win, the Utah Jazz were able to claw a victory, thanks to some late game heroics by Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.
The reason for such a lopsided series has been due to the coming out party of Jalen Brunson. He averaged a good 16.3 points per game throughout the regular season, but in this series he has elevated his game to a 28.6 point per game score and is proving that the Dallas Mavericks should have signed his contract extension when they had the chance. Two things will determine this game. The first is that injured his hamstring, and although he says he’s ‘good to go’, he likely won’t be the same player, and the second is that Luka doesn’t seem to have missed a beat in the time he was off due to injury. In his two games back he averaged 31.5 points 11.5 rebound and 4.5 assist, all on over 50% from the field. The Mayhem will continue in this game with the underdog winning once again.
