Matchup: Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The NBA season continues with a potential Eastern Conference Finals matchup between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics are dominating the league, posting the best record in the NBA at 48-12 (win-rate: 80%), and leading the East by 8.5 games. Boston inflated their lead even further after an 11-game win streak, the longest current run in the NBA. Now it’s the Cavaliers turn to try to snap Boston’s remarkable run, but it won’t be easy, and the odds are against them. Cleveland is 3rd in the East, 9 games behind the Celtics, but the Cavs are coming off 2 losses in their last 3 games, and post an 0-2 record against Boston this season.

The Celtics are clearly the team to beat, but Cleveland has shown sparks of brilliance this season, setting this up as a must-watch matchup. Below you’ll find all of our picks for the Celtics vs. Cavaliers upcoming game, including stats, scores, and betting advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips for Tuesday’s matchup between the Celtics and Cavaliers.

Celtics vs. Cavaliers History

The Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers began their series 54 years ago in 1970. Tuesday will mark the 226th all-time meeting between the Eastern Conference rivals, but historically Boston has owned the Cavaliers, leading the series 139-86 over Cleveland. The Cavs are winless against the Celtics this season, but both of those games were in Boston where the Celtics are extremely difficult to beat. Cleveland is 59-54 against the Celtics at home all-time, giving the Cavs a slight advantage, but with Boston on an 11-game win streak, it seems no one can stop the Celtics in their current form.

Celtics vs. Cavaliers Game Predictions

I’m going with the Boston Celtics to extend their incredible streak with a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Over their 11-game run, Boston averaged a +22.0 point differential, scoring 126.6 points per game, while allowing just 104.6 opponent points per game. The Celtics are coming off a 52-point win over the Golden State Warriors, posting their third-largest winning margin in franchise history. The Celtics are without a doubt the best team in the NBA, and while the Cavaliers are a top-3 team in the East, and are nearly guaranteed to make the playoffs, Cleveland doesn’t have what it takes to beat Boston.

The Celtics are the most well-rounded team in the NBA, led by two All-Star players, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Add 7’ 2” Center Kristaps Porzingis and an elite defense, and Boston has found the perfect combination of talent to make a championship run. The Cavaliers are a great test for the Celtics, as they too have an elite defense, allowing the fewest opponent points per game in the East. However, Cleveland’s leading scorer, Donovan Mitchell, is questionable to play with a knee injury, and without Mitchell’s 28.0 points per game, the Cavs offense will struggle to keep up with the scorching Celtics.

Here are my picks for Tuesday’s Celtics vs. Cavaliers matchup:

  • Moneyline Pick: Boston Celtics (pending)
  • ATS Pick: Boston Celtics (pending)
  • O/U Pick: Under (pending)
