Ok, let’s get to our Miami Heat vs New Orleans Pelicans predictions.

3 reasons why the Heat are guaranteed to cover.

Reason #1: The Miami Heat, led by the best coach in the NBA in Erik Spoelstra, are the no. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Their most recent move was trading KZ Okpala to the Oklahoma City Thunder in return for a second round pick. While the pick helped, the main reason for them doing the trade was to clear up a much needed roster spot on their team. This seems to be an obvious sign that they are trying to make a splash trade and bring in one more key player for their championship run.

Reason #2: No matter whose on the floor for them, they win. The Miami Heat, like any team, has had their fair share of injuries. If anything, they’ve had it worse. Despite that, they still have managed to be the 1 seed for quite a while now. Of their top three players, they’ve missed Kyle Lowry for 11 games, Jimmy Butler for 18 games, and Bam Adebayo for 18 games. In these games, their respective records are 8-3, 12-6, and 11-7. This team is extremely deep, and whenever their best players have to be sidelined, other guys like Max Struss, and Caleb Martin always seem to step up.

Reason #3: They have the 5th best points per game to points allowed per game differential. (The Pelicans have the 8th worst).  At +4.5, the Heat have the 5th best +/- points scored to points allowed difference. They allow 104.5 points per game which is good for the 4th least in the NBA. When they throw out their fourth quarter lineup of Kyler Lowry, Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, PJ Tucker, and Bam Adebayo, good luck trying to score on that.

As for the Pelicans, they are winners of four straight and are looking to continue this run of good luck. Their biggest news has been the acquisition of CJ McCollum, who’s averaged north of 20 points a game for 7 straight years. This is actually an amazing grab for this team because it gives them a premier ball handler to pair next to Brandon Ingram who continues to ball. The main thing for this team is just playing the waiting game though. And that waiting game is centered around Zion Williamson who continues to rehab from his unfortunate foot injury. All in all, if this team had a healthy Zion and CJ had some games under his belt to learn the system, we might advise you to pick otherwise, but since they won’t, for our Expert Miami Heat vs. New Orleans Pelicans pick take the Heat -5.
