The Portland trail blazers are playing in Denver against the Jamal murrayless nuggets for game 2 of their western conference playoff series. The blazers surged late to win the first game by 14 points after out scoring the nuggets by 17 in the second half. The nuggets just couldn’t keep up with the blazers hot shooting hands.
The disparity was seen every time each teams’ second unit was on the court. The blazers only played with 3 players off the bench but they combined for 34 points led by Carmelo Anthony, The nuggets bench players only had 20 points between the 4 of them.
The nuggets best player and expected mvp, nikola jokic, had 34 and 16, but outside of him and Michael porter, the nugs didn’t have much help, Without Jamal Murray, the nuggets don’t have a back court player who can score 1 on 1. Campazzo plays with a lot of energy and is a great defender, but he only averages 4 shot attempts per game.
The nuggets had a sizable rebounding advantage over the blazers. Nurkic had a decent game, but the blazers don’t have the size to hit the glass against Gordon, jokic and porter. Luckily, they have plenty of talented wing players to stretch the floor: they went 19 of 40 from range in game 1 against one of the better three point defending teams.
In my game 1 breakdown, I mentioned the betting trends between these two teams. The blazers are now 3-10 straight up playing against the nuggets in Denver…will they go 4-10?

Game 2 I expect the nuggets to play with the same intensity and get more production from their backcourt. The blazers are unlikely to shoot that well from downtown again but this should still a tight one.
