Phoenix Looks to End LA’s Comeback Season | Clippers vs Suns | OSB
Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix Suns: Game 5
By Sam Batz
On Tuesday, April 25th the First Round of the NBA Playoffs continue with the Phoenix Suns hosting the LA Clippers for Game 5 (10:00 PM EST, TNT). The series score is 3-1 in favor of the Suns. After dropping Game 1 at home, Phoenix roared back with three straight wins over the Clippers. The Suns are averaging 118.5 points per game, while the Clippers are averaging 112.0 points per game in this series. Los Angeles is dealing with several notable injuries, resulting in Phoenix being heavily favored in Game 5.
The Los Angeles Clippers (+12; ML +550)
The LA Clippers are being given a measly 1% chance to make it past the Suns. In Game 1, the Clippers looked like they could make it an interesting series, but after Kawhi Leonard was ruled out, things took a turn for the worst in LA. Leonard recorded 38 points in Game 1, propelling the Clippers to victory, and then posted 31 points in Game 2. It was an impressive start, but Leonard has since been absent from the playoffs with a knee injury, and will miss his third straight game on Tuesday. With Paul George having been ruled out before the playoffs even began, the loss of Kawhi has crippled the Clippers, who are now in a win-or-go-home situation.
The Phoenix Suns (-12; ML -800)
The Suns gave their fans a scare after the loss in Game 1, but are now on track to make it past the First Round for the third consecutive season. Devin Booker has been on fire for Phoenix, scoring 30 or more points in 3 of 4 First Round games, and recording a high of 45 points in Game 3. The Suns finished the regular season just 1 game up on the Clippers, but have looked far better than the Clippers through 4 games. A lot of that has to do with injuries, but Phoenix is also the more experienced team. They have the ultimate veteran in Chris Paul, and a seasoned playoff mastermind in Kevin Durant, who have each made significant contributions on the way to a 2 game advantage over the Clippers.

Clippers vs. Suns: Player Props
Deandre Ayton (Suns Center): Over 10.5 Rebounds
The Suns took Ayton with the first overall draft pick back in 2018, and the big man has not disappointed. Since drafting Ayton, Phoenix has made the playoffs 3 of his 6 years in the league. Deandre isn’t a scoring machine, but he doesn’t need to be. His role is to gobble up rebounds, and that is where he has thrived this postseason. Ayton is averaging 11.2 boards per game against LA, and in Game 5, he will go over 10.5 rebounds.
Russell Westbrook (Clippers Point Guard): Over 25.5 Points
Westbrook has bounced around the league in recent years, but landed himself a sweet gig with the Clippers. He fits in well with Tyronn Lue’s system, and with fellow All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George sidelined, Westbrook has been handed the reins. After a horrendous shooting performance in Game 1 (3/19, 15.8%), Westbrook turned it around, recording at least 28 points in every game, with a high of 37 points in Game 4. Unfortunately, Westbrook’s improved scoring hasn’t resulted in wins for LA, but nonetheless, he will be a vital part of the Clippers offense and will go over 25.5 points.
Clippers vs. Suns Game 5 Prediction
Take the Phoenix Suns to win the series with a victory in Game 5. The Suns have a more well-rounded lineup and the Clippers are floundering after all the injuries. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant have been great for Phoenix, and Chris Paul’s leadership has been priceless. The Suns are excellent at home and LA is inconsistent on the road. Phoenix will end the series in the Valley of the Sun and advance to the Conference Semifinals.
Prediction: Phoenix Suns Moneyline (-800)
