In what should be a tightly contested game between two of the Western Conference’s best sides, I am going with the New Orleans Pelicans. The Clippers have gotten their act together after an abysmal losing streak that came directly after they acquired 10x All-Star James Harden. But in their last 20 games, the Clippers went 15-5, suggesting their superstar roster has found a way to work together. But the Pelicans have found their footing as well, winning 4-straight and posting a 13-7 record in their last 20. Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram are leading the team with 22 points per game, but the Pelicans have 7 total players averaging double-digit scoring figures.
It’s hard to slow down a team as dynamic as the Pelicans because they can hurt you from anywhere on the court. CJ McCollum is their best long-range threat, while Zion and Jonas Valanciunas dominate the paint. LA’s Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are combining for 47.8 points per game, but the Pelicans versatile offense should be able to keep up with them. These are two high-powered offenses, and I’m expecting a high-scoring game, but in the end, the Pelicans will prevail.
