All right, Tommy D is back here it is Friday, March 11, 2022. And we got a big weekend coming up here. We’re going to be talking about a couple of NBA games for Saturday, Sunday is selective Sunday, you’re going to know the 64 teams going for the big dance. We’re going to be talking about a couple of college teams that are definitely in the tournament, some of the odds right now. Let’s get right to it here. I got my esteemed co-host, Scott Matthews from SM Picks. Scott, what the hell’s going on?

What’s up, Tommy, you ready for a busy weekend. I know. I know, everyone out there is chasing these games over the last few days. It’s pretty exciting this time of the year, when you got Gamestop at about 1130 in the morning, they run until about two o’clock and two o’clock in the morning East Coast time. So you got a lot, a lot of fun out there. For the guys out there that like to follow these games all day all night, but it’s winding down. Now we’re coming into the pivotal time this weekend.

 Obviously college basketball, we don’t know exactly at this point in time who’s going to be playing, you know, for these conference championships to see, you know, obviously who wins the championship. But we do have some exciting NBA games, a couple of really good games we’re featuring on this show today. And I think we could try to help the viewers out the pickup a little cashola to go into March Madness the week after.

Well, that’s what we’re here for. Like I said Sunday it got selective Sunday, they’re going to have the 64 then the tournament start next Thursday. I believe nit kickin as well. So no doubt this is probably equal to Superbowl weekend leading up to March Madness and the opening day is is is crazy. It always has been. Just a couple of quick things here.  Thank God we got baseball, those knuckleheads finally figured something out. That would have been a total disaster. So we’re gonna have a lot of sports right through the summer.

So maybe that’s a good thing. That’s a good thing. It’s no it’s a good thing. I mean, baseball traditionally, let me tell you, I I’ve been on both sides that his business and shops really crushed it in baseball.

So baseball is great because of the fact that you know, you’re just doing a money line. You don’t have point spreads, you just find teams that start outright. You know, you get streaky, you got baseballs, that type of sport, you got to stay with a team for a little bit, try to make a little money off them. And then you move on. You don’t just keep jumping on the same teams over and over again. Because I make this analogy to people over the years. The best team in Major League Baseball, let’s say wins 100 games a year. That means losing 62 games. Now, if their favorite is pretty heavily on most of those games. 

At the end of the year, you’re making no money with the best team in baseball basically. Think about that, guys, you win 100 You lose 62. But if you’re a buck 30 or Buck 40 favorite on average all your games throughout the year, if not more, you’re not making any money. 

And you had a team that was 38 games over five on the Cayenne baseball and like I said, I’ve seen both sides that his business is finding on the dogs and baseball. A lot of sharp guys play on the dogs. They also play. They play in total. So we’re going to be talking about baseball as we get closer. But let’s look at a couple of NBA games for Saturday. Scotty you know, the playoffs come in real quick. This is going to be a pretty big matchup down here in Miami right down in South Beach.

 The heat play in Minnesota. There wasn’t a line at the time that was coming on board. What do you think about this one? The heats been playing, you know, excellent basketball. Can they cover against Minnesota?

Well, the problem in this game, not that it’s a problem is Jimmy Butler, again, is a game-time decision. He’s got some type of illness I don’t they’re not really disclosing exactly what it is. But he is a key factor. They missed the last game. He got wiped out by Phoenix with that whole thing we thought Booker wasn’t going to play. Booker ended up playing because we did the show a day and a half before obviously the game. We thought Butler was going to play he ended up not playing. So it made a big difference. We thought the line would be so here’s a scenario this Minnesota team has been playing outstanding. I mean, I don’t know they’re just putting things together. They’re a very high potent offense.

 Now it seems like when Miami I mean they’re graded home, you know when the defense shows up and obviously and they got the firepower with some great outside shooters, Duncan Robinson. Tyler here off the bench has been phenomenal all year. But as I always say on the show, I’m almost like repeating myself, the heat role players have been phenomenal. But they got a couple of guys a couple of their key role players that are banged up playing against his hot team. And I think this team is going to get it while again, it depends on the line with Butler if he’s playing or not. If Butler’s in this is going to be probably a six and a half to seven and a half point, Miami’s favorite line in this game.

 If he’s not in this game might be closer to a three and a half, or maybe even a four or less numb. I love the way Minnesota is playing. They’re just finding ways to score a lot of points. I know Miami can score a lot of points. But again, the key thing is Jimmy Butler, because Hold on one-second deciding factor is Jimmy Butler. And I got to be honest with you. I think Minnesota is gonna stay in this game. I really do. I hate to say that. But I think Minnesota the way they’re playing, they’re playing outstanding basketball. Matter of fact, I’m looking at some numbers right here. They’re great against the spread this seven two and one and the last and eight and two overall, they’re finding ways to play against really good teams. 

Yes, Miami has been playing well, there are seven and three in the last 10 games. I didn’t like the way they looked at all against Phoenix, I think there could be a little rust. You know, I think Minnesota can stay in this game. Again, I don’t have an exact number, but I like the dog. I just like the way the dogs play. I think they can hand match up against the, especially without Butler.

Well, we’re gonna have to pay attention to this one to see if Butler’s gonna play. So, you

know, this is they’re not really disclosing Exactly. And I’m trying to, you know, look at some reports that I had sent over to me for some of my outlets, but nothing they’re not giving me any indication, you know, Miami’s very funny about things when you know, it’s almost like the New England Patriots. They never let out any information on players when they were injured. Exactly what it was. You can never get the real info. You know, like Colorado, he’s been out with personal reasons, obviously, unless I know what those reasons are.

 Because I know people that know him very well. So the public is not knowing exactly, you know, they just think he’s out of the lineup, personal reading whatever. But you know that again, illness, you probably won’t play. I like the way Minnesota is playing right now. They’re playing great against the spread. Why not take a live team like that in a game like this?

Alright, so you lean in towards the dog. Second game. Now the Big matchup two teams playing pretty well right now. The Bucs traveled to Golden State. What’s your take on this one?

Man, this is like a little preview of you know, an outstanding playoff game. I mean, it seems like these teams right now you know, you get down to the last 15 games or so of the regular season. So there’s a lot on the line. This is not this is almost like playoff night every night for certain games. This is an outstanding matchup. Think about this. 

You got Yanis who’s playing out of his mind lately, Middleton’s been playing extremely well. Drew Holliday has been playing outstanding not only on offense, but he’s a tremendous defensive player. So they got three or four or five weapons Milwaukee plus a couple of decent roleplayers. But this new little lineup of golden state if you watch the game the other night against Denver, at the end would pool who made some unbelievable keep. 

Three-point is they were all over Steph Curry trying to defend him and Klay Thompson and then pull steps up and nails these two clutch threes to pull away in a tough game against in Denver and Golden State ended up winning that game I think by eight or 10 points, whatever the final margin was. But when you have cool on the court with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, you got three Arsenal’s Now that does even include Wiggins and things like that. I like Golden State. I think they made some changes in their lineup. 

And I think that lineup change is going to be tough for Milwaukee is great as Yana says, and he is a freak, no doubt about it. I think Golden State is going to be a solid four-point favorite and maybe three to four points. You know, I don’t know the exact number at this point. But I think Golden State if they can keep those three guys on the court, it’s going to be so hard to defend because you’re going to try to defend stuff from his 3.0 penetrating, and then you got these two other guys that can fire away in addition to their inside game and like I said Wiggins, Draymond Green might I hear might even be coming back. I don’t know if it’s for this game. Well, the next one and that’s he’s really good at moving the ball around the guys like this.

 I think the Golden State’s a big play in this game. I think they’re going to win this game. And they’re going to make a statement and this one I think they could win this game by double digits. I know Milwaukee is playing well. It’s An important game, a very tough place to play on the road. And against these three guys right now that is shooting the lights out of it. As I said, you try to defend one, you got two others that can fire and hit threes or penetrate the basket. I like Golden State guys a lot.

Let’s get jacked up. Tommy, I got to tell you about this March Madness because I think it’s so wide open. I think there’s a good 2025 team, I gotta be honest with you, that have a shot at this thing. I mean, if you look at it, there’s no one standout you know, you could say, oh, Gonzaga they did. They’re not stand-up. You know, when they match up when is when there’s a matchup of a team that could come in right they can play with you know, beat any team. I really I’m excited about this, you got about 20 to 25 teams that have a great chance of really getting on a run and winning this championship this year. 

It’s really exciting time of the year and it’s gonna be tough for the betters guys, you got to be real careful because, you know, the fight thing is I used to go to Vegas. Good story. I used to go to Vegas for the first week of these tournaments. And by it was so busy out there. And I mean, slammed the sportsbooks. The lines were crazy. You couldn’t find seats inside people standing outside, but by week two, it was empty. Yeah. Because these guys were chasing like favorites and, and teams they shouldn’t be chasing. And when all these teams went down or all these favorites went down early. They had no money left. They had to leave the conference

guys flew in and they took the Greyhound back home it’s it

they came into the Rolls Royce they drove in a Rolls Royce went home and a $300,000 grant.

Yeah, yeah, well talking about Vegas, we’re gonna be in Vegas Final Four weekend, we’re gonna be at the circuit broadcasting live. We’re gonna have a couple of our teams out there, Kenny Edwards is going to be joining us so well. Looking forward to that. That siren I hope you don’t bring the siren he brought on the show.

 I’m sure he’s gonna bring a lot of ammunition. But we will be at in Vegas final full weekend. And for the final game, we’ll be talking about that. As we get closer, a couple of standout tails like you said, there’s always going to be that Cinderella team that pops up, and who knows who that might be. But just looking right now where the odds stand, of course, the Zags are our favorite three plus 350. But if for the newbies that may not understand what the money line is, that means basically that three and a half the one. So if you put $100 down and they win the whole shebang, you win $350. 

Then you got Arizona plus 650. Kentucky, these are household names plus 750. Balance 11. The one put 100 on there. So there are some there is some Duke 12 to one. I mean, the list goes on and on. I’m not going to end in Kansas University of Kansas 14 to one, though, I mean, you see anything to ask it that might surprise

you. You know, think about it, you got to go six at all, to win the national championship. That’s how you got to look at it one game at a time, six, and oh gets you to the title. So you got to go to some tough as teams some tough matchups in different regions of the country to move on to win that six-game. There’s only one person only, excuse me one team that can go six at all. And that’s the final, final team that wins the championship. So that’s why when I said earlier, there are so many teams. 

 mean that a tight I mean, I don’t see anybody that stands out like right now, I really have to see how these conference games finish up. See the peering, see the maps of seeing the seedings in these brackets. And then you can really start determining, you know, who’s who can move along who’s got a better chance and things like that. So right now, I’m open-minded. I, you know, to about 2025 teams, to be honest, I couldn’t put my finger on one team to say, Gonzaga, Arizona, Duke, you know, this team, that team. 

So right now I’m just looking at everything like I’m just observing like everyone else. My guys are looking at everything. We’re looking at every number, we’re looking at the way these teams match up. Then we’re going to look at how they match up in these brackets. Obviously in these regions get through if they can get through the regions how they move and who they face, obviously moving forward. But like you said, they’re not giving you a lot of value if you think about it, and just when you think about it, Gonzaga plus 350. 

Okay, they got to go six. And Oh, guys, if they lose one game, you have bits done. You’re not getting a lot of value by thinking, Oh, well, I could put $100 and get back 350 All Gonzaga has got to do is win the championship. Yeah, all they got to do is win six games, think about that. So I’d rather bet them one game at a time and see what they end up. Because if I bet them one game at a time, I’ll make more money. If they go six it Oh, then I would just make him one bet to get plus 350 on my money,

stupid, they know that you know, they all everything’s in their favor. Now Sunday night,

they’ll you’ll know, we’ll know who the 64 Ah, we’re gonna be coming with an extended show on Wednesday. At that time, we’re going to be putting out all our first-round selection. So make sure you tune in letting legendary teams out there too, that are pretty, you know, pretty damn good that have shots like teams like Arkansas. I mean, long shots at best. I’m not saying that. That’s the answer. But what I was trying to say in these, the reason I feel there’s like about 20 to 25 teams that really have chances because they play decent basketball, they’re not that far off the top teams in the country. And if you notice a lot of teams have been beat throughout the season, you know, top teams against teams a little bit underneath them. 

So that’s why I’m saying the matchups in the surroundings in the brackets are going to be a key to see you know how they move along. So you could find a really good price team. This year, you really could you could find like a 3025 3020 to 140 to one kind of team that might end up getting to the championship. 

And then you can hedge it. If they get to the championship you could hedge it and make yourself some nice money a lot of the next three weeks are going to be mayhem it always has been let’s get the best bet out Scotty for Saturday. It could be any game we spoke about. It could be anything give give us your best bet for Saturday.

Oh, now you really put me on the line because I don’t really have, any major numbers yet on these games. But I like Golden State. I think that Golden State’s right in this game. I mean, I don’t know the exact number. But I don’t think the numbers gonna matter in this game. I think it’s going to be about a three-four-point spread.

 And I just liked the way that lineup took over at the end there. And I think what these shops shoot is that they have plus some good role players. It’s going to be very tough, is good as Yana says is good as Middleton is. And as a graded defender and scoring as holidays been doing. I just think they’re gonna have a tough time. I think Golden State, went on that low. And I mentioned it for a while on a couple of shows we did, they will kind of play in like this. I think now they’re going to start to elevate a little bit up. This is getting crunch time and they’re all gonna come together. And Steve Kerr is a very good coach.

 He knows how to motivate these guys. They like playing for him. They really do not that you know, a lot of players don’t like playing for the coaches. But Kurt seems to get the best of these guys. He knows how to work with this team. Right. And I think he’s made some good chess moves. And I just think that the Golden State this, I think mentally This is a big game for Golden State. Not you know, I’m not saying it isn’t for Milwaukee, but I think Golden State is just on that little rise right now. And that little rise is going to get the job done in this game.
