Memphis Looks To Even The Score | Lakers vs Grizzlies | OSB
LA Lakers at Memphis Grizzlies: Game 2
By Sam Batz
The NBA Playoffs continue on Wednesday, April 19th when the LA Lakers take on the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 2 of their First Round matchup (7:30 PM EST, TNT). The Lakers lead the series 1-0 after beating Memphis 128-112 in Game 1. Los Angeles has turned this series on its head. They entered Game 1 as +3.5 point underdogs, and are now even with Memphis entering Game 2. The Grizzlies looked stunned after the loss on Sunday, and now, as they prepare for Game 2, all of the pressure is resting on Memphis’ shoulders.
The Los Angeles Lakers (-110)
The Lakers shocked the Grizzlies in the series opener on Sunday. Memphis has the best home record in the NBA (35-6), yet it was the Lakers who came to town to steal Game 1. LA was bolstered by 20+ point performances from Lebron James (21 pts), Anthony Davis (22 pts), Austin Reaves (23 pts), and Rui Hachimura (29). The Lakers shot an outstanding 43.2% (16/37) from the three-point line, nearly 10% better than their regular season average (34.6%). LA looked great in Game 1, out-rebounding the Grizzlies and recording an incredible 11 total blocks, and on Wednesday, look to do it all over again.
The Memphis Grizzlies (-110)
It was a disastrous start to the Grizzlies playoff campaign. Not only did they lose by 16 points at home, but their All-Star Point Guard, Ja Morant, suffered a nasty looking wrist/hand injury in the 4th quarter. The entire city of Memphis held its breath as Morant immediately headed to the locker room with a look of serious discomfort on his face after coming down hard on his left hand. Morant did not return to the floor and is doubtful for Game 2. Ja has been the main engine for the Grizzlies all season, and without him, Memphis will struggle on both ends of the floor.

Lakers vs. Grizzlies: Best Prop Bets
Anthony Davis (Lakers Power Forward): Under 24.5 points in Game 2
AD is a top-tier talent. He recorded 22 points and 12 rebounds in Game 1, shooting 10/17 from the field. He averaged 25.9 points per game during the regular season. Against the Grizzlies, AD averaged 29.0 points per game through 2 matchups. However, Davis suffered a strange looking shoulder injury in Game 1, where he could be seen mouthing, “I can’t feel my arm…”. Davis would return to the game, and is probable for Game 2, but it’s clear the Lakers big man is banged up, and with Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr. guarding him, I predict Anthony Davis will go under 24.5 points.
Jaren Jackson Jr. (Grizzlies Power Forward): Over 23.5 points in Game 2
Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies with 31 points in Game 1. He went 13/21 from the field and 2/4 from the three-point line. Jackson averaged just 18.6 points per game in the regular season, but if Ja Morant misses Game 2, Jackson’s opportunities to score will increase dramatically. The Grizzlies posted 56 points in the paint in Game 1, and as their main option downlow, Jackson will continue to see a lot of high-percentage looks at the basket. I predict Jaren Jackson Jr. will go over 23.5 points.
Lakers vs. Grizzlies Prediction: Game 2
Take the Memphis Grizzlies to win Game 2. The Lakers looked good in Game 1, but I can’t picture Memphis losing twice in a row at home. The Grizzlies won 85.4% of their home games during the regular season, and while the playoffs are a different beast, that home record has to stand for something. Memphis is a great team, even without Ja Morant, and they will rally to the cause. The Lakers shot lights out in Game 1, but I don’t anticipate that happening again, especially in Memphis, and the Grizzlies will even the series 1-1 on Wednesday.
Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies Moneyline (-110)
