LaMelo Ball Sidelined in Charlotte
The Hornets are doing their best, but with their star point guard sidelined, the outlook doesn’t look great in Charlotte. The Hornets are 6-12, putting them 13th in the East, as they struggle to string together enough wins to move up the standings. Now, with LaMelo Ball out indefinitely because of a right ankle sprain, the Hornets look destined for another down year. Fortunately, Charlotte faces the Chicago Bulls tomorrow, another team struggling to make headway. The Bulls are 7-14, putting them just half a game up on the Hornets, but Chicago is coming off back-to-back wins.
I’m going with the Chicago Bulls in this one. Without LaMelo Ball, the Hornets are missing a key piece. Ball, who was averaging 24.7 points and 8.2 assists before his injury, was Charlotte’s entire offense. However, Charlotte’s defense, or lack of it, is the biggest issue. The Hornets are giving up over 120 points per game, and now without their best scorer, they’ll struggle to make up those points.
The Bulls aren’t a great team, but they looked good in their two most recent wins, beating the Bucks 120-113 and then the Pelicans 124-118, all without Zach LaVine. Chicago’s Coby White has been an excellent replacement, averaging 22.0 points in his last 5 games, while LaVine is sidelined. But DeMar DeRozan is now back for Chicago, and against Charlotte’s generous defense, he and the Bulls will grab their 3rd-straight win.
So for our Hornets vs. Bulls expert pick, take the Chicago Bulls Moneyline (-192) on Wednesday. Click here to see the latest odds on this matchup.
