Matchup: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks will play host to the LA Lakers on Tuesday in a can’t miss cross conference clash. The first game of the season between these two was incredible and I can’t imagine this one will be any different. LA took the first match 123-122, even though the Lakers were without Lebron James, their de facto leader, while the Bucks were at full strength. Unfortunately for LA, Lebron is once again questionable to play, and because of an ankle injury, the King likely won’t see the court on Tuesday. On the other side, we will likely see Milwaukee best, as the Bucks look to redeem themselves after the initial loss to the Lakers two weeks ago.

Lakers vs. Bucks History

This Tuesday will mark the 146th all-time regular season matchup between the LA Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks. The series began in 1968 and 56 years later the Lakers hold an 85-60 record over the Bucks. LA may lead the series as a whole, but on the road against Milwaukee the Lakers are 30-41, winning just 3 times in Milwaukee over the last 10 years. The Bucks have been dominant at home once again this season, posting a 29-7 record in Fiserv Forum, winning 8 of their last 10, along with 6-straight wins. The Bucks have an 81.8% win-rate as favorites at home, and the Lakers have a 38.1% win-rate as underdogs on the road.

Lakers vs. Bucks Game Predictions

Take the Milwaukee Bucks to beat the LA Lakers this Tuesday. The Bucks are coming off back-to-back wins, but what has me excited about Milwaukee is their defense. Earlier this season the Bucks had one of the worst defenses in the NBA, but in their last 5 matchups Milwaukee held their opponents to 111.4 points per game. At one point the Bucks were giving up nearly 120 points per game, so it’s a big improvement. The Lakers averaged 120.8 points per game in their last 10, but with Lebron James and Anthony Davis questionable to play, LA’s thriving offense will take a massive hit.

On the Bucks side, Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo are listed as game time decisions, but are probable to play. Giannis recorded 34-points on the Lakers in their first matchup, and paired with Damian Lillard’s 24.4 PPG, the Lakers will have their hands full defensively. LA’s D’Angelo Russell recorded his season-high on the Bucks, posting 44-points in the Lakers one point win, but D’Lo has struggled with consistency, posting less than 15-points in 3 of his last 5 games. Lastly the Lakers are not a road threat, going 12-20 (37.5%) in away games, and not many teams have fared well against the Bucks at home.

In summary, here are my picks for the Lakers vs. Bucks Tuesday night matchup:

  • Moneyline Pick: Milwaukee Bucks (-355)

If you take the Bucks Moneyline (-355): You risk $355 to win $100, for a total payout of $455, if the Bucks win straight up.

  • ATS Pick: Milwaukee Bucks (-8.5)

If you take the Bucks to Cover the -8.5 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Bucks win the game by at least 9 points.

  • O/U Pick: Under (234)

If you take the Over on 234 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Lakers and Bucks combine for less than 234 points.
