Knicks and Sixers Go Head-to-Head
The Philadelphia 76ers will host the New York Knicks tomorrow night for a divisional matchup in the Atlantic. The Sixers are favored, as they have the better record at 23-10, putting them 4.5 games up on the Knicks. New York has fallen to 19-15, making them tied for 7th in the East with the Cavaliers. The Knicks had a rough go in December, posting a 6-8 record while giving up 124.8 points per game. Conversely, the Sixers have a claim to the best defense in the East, as Philadelphia is allowing the fewest points in the conference at 110.5 per game.
I’m going with the Under in this one. The point total is set at 226.5, and with the way Philly plays defense, I don’t see the Knicks scoring many points. New York’s defense has been struggling, but with the addition of OG Anunoby, the Knicks received a much needed boost defensively. Anunoby is a top-tier defender. At 6’ 7”, he can guard every position on the court, and in his first two games with the Knicks, they held opponents to 106 and 100 points respectively. Philly’s Joel Embiid is always a problem for the opposition, but the Sixers averaged just 111.6 points in their last 5 games, suggesting the offense is in a bit of a slump.
So for our Knicks vs. 76ers expert pick, take the Under on 226.5 total points on Friday.
