Kings Continue Road Trip In Indiana | Kings vs Pacers | OSB
Sacramento Kings at Indiana Pacers
By Sam Batz
The Sacramento Kings travel to the Hoosier Capital to play the Indiana Pacers on Friday, Feb. 3rd in Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Pacers are in desperate need of a victory, while the Kings are looking to keep the winning train rolling. Regardless, it should be a hard fought game between two teams that are sick of being overlooked and underestimated.
The Sacramento Kings are this year’s dark-horse team. They are third in the West with a 29-21 record, and lead the league with 119.5 points per game. Sacramento’s offensive resurgence can be attributed to their new head coach, Mike Brown. The former Coach of the Year was hired during the offseason and has exceeded all expectations. The Kings are 7-3 in their last 10 games, and are coming off back-to-back wins over the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs, putting up 118 and 119 points respectively. Offense is the name-of-the-game in Sacramento, as they have six players averaging over 12 points per game. De’Aaron Fox leads the team with 24.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game, followed by Domantas Sabonis with 18.8 points, 7.1 assists, and 12.4 rebounds. Sabonis leads the league with 39 double-doubles in 48 games, which equates to a double-double in 81.3% of his games. He has been a consistent force for Sacramento and will look to take down his former team on Friday.
The Indiana Pacers are floundering and find themselves on the precipice of a postseason berth. They are 24-28 and the 10 seed in the East. They have lost three games in a row and are 1-9 in their last 10. Needless to say, their season is not panning out in the way they hoped. They lost arguably their best player, Tyrese Haliburton, to an elbow injury in December, and have since gone 2-10 without him on the floor. Indiana still has a shot to make the playoffs, and their head coach Rick Carlisle told reporters Haliburton will be ready to make his comeback appearance any day now. The future looks bright for the Pacers, but at the moment, they are struggling to win games, both on the road and at home.

Kings vs. Pacers All-Time Series
The Kings and Pacers played their first head-to-head contest in October, 1976. Back then, it was the Kansas City Kings but they moved to Sacramento a decade later in 1986. The Kings have been in California’s capital ever since, and have played against the Pacers in 95 regular season games. The Pacers, who have been in Indiana since 1967 when they were founded as an ABA (American Basketball Association) franchise, have 51 wins against the Kings since moving over to the NBA in 1976. The Kings are right behind the Pacers with 44 series wins.
The Kings and Pacers played their last game against each other back in November of 2022, which ended in a 137-114 blowout victory for the Kings. On Friday, they play their second, and final, meeting of this year’s regular season. The Pacers have won 65.9% (31-16 record) of their home games against the Kings all-time, but the Kings have won the last two games in the series, the most recent being the 23 point blowout earlier this season.
Prediction
I would take the Kings over the Pacers in this matchup. Sacramento has one of the best offensive schemes in the league, and the Pacers have struggled on defense during their recent skid. Furthermore, the Pacers have a meeting with the Lakers the day before and won’t have any rest before their matchup with the Kings. Indiana is 3-2 with no rest when playing at home, and averages a surprisingly high 122.4 points in those games. However, Indiana will be up against a Sacramento side who has scored 122+ points in 42% of their games this year. Friday’s matchup will be a high scoring affair, but Sacramento, with their highly-efficient offense, will come out on top.
Prediction: Sacramento Kings Moneyline and the Over.
