Joel Embiid Hopeful to Return

The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Kings tomorrow night for their first matchup of the season with Sacramento. The Sixers are 3rd in the East at 23-13, while the Kings are 5th in the West at 23-14. Sacramento has won 4 of their last 5, averaging 131.8 points per game across the 4 wins. Philadelphia on the other hand, is hoping to snap a 3-game losing streak. Thankfully for the Sixers, reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid is expected to make his return after a 2-game absence due to a knee injury. 

With Embiid back on the court, I have to go with the 76ers in this one. Philly is 2-7 without Embiid, but with the big man the Sixers are 21-6. In his 8 career games against the Kings, Embiid averaged 27.8 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. This season, Embiid’s averaging an NBA-best 34.6 points per game, and he’ll play a pivotal role against the Kings, most notably on defense. The Sixers have given up 129.0 points per game during the 3-game losing streak, but with Embiid protecting the rim, the Sixers will get back on track.
