The first play in game is At 6:30 pm eastern time between the Charlotte Hornets and the indiana pacers at the bankers life field house in Indianapolis.
These two teams have met three times this season with the hornets taking two of the three. Both of these teams have had Injury plagued seasons, especially the hornets. Charlotte lost Starting small forward and big offseason acquisition, Gordon Hayward for the entire season. He played in the teams’ first 2 meetings but missed the third and will be out for the playoffs. Lonzo ball missed multiple months of the season but has returned to the court just in time for this do or die game.
Also take note, When these teams first met, caris levert had not played for the pacers yet, after being traded from the nets. In the third meeting, pacers starting point guard Malcolm Brogdon sat. He has not played in over a week, but we should expect to see tonight logging in full minutes.
The pacers have a strong bench and have been using the next man up approach all year. Tj warren has been injured since January, and starting center Myles turner is out indefinitely with a foot injury. Bench player Jeremy lamb, who has missed the last couple, will also miss tonight’s game.
It shouldn’t be too big of a loss for the pacers. The size of Sabonis, and bitadze off the bench, should be unmanageable for the Hornets front court defense. They are a smaller team, playing Cody zeller at the 5 and pj Washington at power forward. They should get manhandled by Sabonis’ length on the boards. And he can also draw defenders out of the paint because he can shoot from long distance, averaging over 32% from three in his young career.
The hornets have currently lost 5 in a row, and 5 straight road games. In their last 7 road games, they are 1-6 against the spread. Although they won 2/3 against the pacers in 2021, the hornets are 3-6 against the spread in their last 9 vs the pacers.
Indiana has been tough this month at home, going 5-0 against the spread and 6-1 in their last 7 overall. They’re clearly heating up at the right time while Charlotte is sinking fast.
As far as the total goes, The pacers recent games have been high scoring affairs with almost 0 defense. The over has hit in 10 of their last 14. But..historically against the hornets, 7 of the last ten meetings have seen the total stay under.
For player props and daily fantasy lineups, I think Sabonis is a must play and I like his overs to hit especially his rebound total.
The injuries of Charlotte and Their lack of size will keep them out of the playoffs. Despite this, The public has jumped on them early so we may see this line go down from -3 before tip off. Best bet is pacers ML but lay the points if that money line price is too expensive for you!
