Matchup: LA Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors
In a rematch of arguably the best game of the season so far, the LA Lakers will take on the Golden State Warriors. Their first matchup was a double-overtime thriller, which ended 145-144 in favor of the Lakers. Get ready for another nail-biter, as both LA and Golden State are fighting to stay within reach of the play-in. The Lakers are 9th in the West (30-26) after winning 3-straight before the All-Star break, while the Warriors are right behind them in 10th place (27-26), just one and a half games back from LA. Sportsbooks are favoring the Warriors by 4.5 points, but as the first matchup revealed, anything could happen.

Lakers vs. Warriors History
The Lakers and Warriors have a long history. With both teams being in California, naturally they’ve faced each other many times. This Thursday marks the 436th all-time regular season meeting between the Lakers and Warriors, going all the way back to 1948 when they played their first game. Back then the Lakers were in Minneapolis, while the Warriors were in Philadelphia, but by 1962 both franchises were in California, and that’s when their bitter rivalry began. The Lakers lead the series 262-173 over the Warriors, and LA currently holds a 4-game winning streak, which the Warriors will be looking to snap.
Lakers vs. Warriors Game Predictions
After the double overtime thriller in the first matchup, everyone is expecting another instant classic, and the Lakers and Warriors will deliver. As I said, both teams are fighting to stay relevant in the playoff race, and a win for either side would be huge. There’s a lot of basketball left, but building momentum in the 2nd half of the season is essential to a successful postseason push. It’ll be a close game, but the Warriors have a distinct trump card with home court advantage, so I’m going with Golden State to win the game. However, the Lakers won’t go down easily, so I’m also taking LA to cover the spread.
Lakers Center Anthony Davis is going to be a problem for Golden State, but with Steph Curry playing some of the best basketball of his illustrious career, which is really saying something, the Warriors will manage to squeak out a win. Davis will dominate the paint, as the Warriors don’t have a true Center who can stop the versatile big man, but Curry is on fire, hitting at least 7 3’s in 4 of his last 5 games, and scored 46 points on the Lakers in the last matchup. Lebron James is currently listed as a “Game Time Decision”, so I would monitor his status, and if The King can’t go, definitely take the Warriors.
So here are my picks for the Lakers vs. Warriors Thursday night matchup:
- Moneyline Pick: Golden State Warriors (-180)
If you take the Warriors Moneyline (-180): You risk $180 to win $100, for a total payout of $280, if the Warriors win straight up.
- ATS Pick: LA Lakers (+4.5)
If you take the Lakers to Cover the +4.5 Spread (-112): You risk $112 to win $100, for a total payout of $212, if the Lakers win the game, or lose by less than 5 points.
- O/U Pick: Under (241.5)
If you take the Under on 241.5 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Lakers and Warriors combine for less than 242 points.
