Giannis Probable For Milwaukee’s Next Matchup | Bucks vs Pistons | OSB

Milwaukee Bucks at Detroit Pistons

Bucks vs Pistonsart

The Milwaukee Bucks are set to travel to the Motor City on Monday, Jan. 23rd for a meeting with their Central Division rivals, the Detroit Pistons. The Bucks and Pistons are on opposite sides of the Eastern Conference standings, but there is a long and turbulent history between the two storied franchises. The Bucks will be heavily favored, but have struggled at times on the road, and Detroit has nothing to lose, and everything to gain, from beating their division rivals.

The Detroit Pistons (12-36) have the worst win-rate (25%) in the East, and are at the very bottom of the standings just behind the Charlotte Hornets. They are an insurmountable 23.5 games behind the conference leading Boston Celtics, and are 18 games behind the Central Division leading Milwaukee Bucks. Bojan Bogdanović leads the Piston’s with 21.3 points per contest, and has started a team-high 45 games. Promising young point guard, Cade Cunningham, is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his lower left leg. Thus, rookie point guard Jaden Ivey has been called upon to replace Cunningham. Ivey averages the second-most minutes (30.3 per game) amongst rookies, and has recorded a respectable 15.2 points and 4.3 assists per contest. However, Detroit is not a contender this year, and is simply looking to gain experience for their young players. However, with the slew of young talent at their disposal, the Pistons could turn things around quickly in the years to come.

The Milwaukee Bucks (29-17) have an overall win-rate of 63.0%, but have struggled on the road, and against Eastern Conference opponents. The Bucks are 17-13 against the East (56.7%win-rate) and are an underwhelming 7-9 (43.8% win-rate) against Eastern Conference teams on the road. They are coming off a 102-114 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland, but injuries have played a role in many Bucks losses this month. Key players, like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, have been sidelined with knee injuries, but are slated to make their returns on Monday against Detroit. Regardless, Milwaukee remains a top-three team in the East, and with Giannis and Middleton set to return, Monday’s matchup should be a cakewalk for the Bucks.

Bucks vs. Pistons All-Time Series

Bucks vs Pistons Predictions, Picks, and Odds | Jan 23 2023

The Bucks vs. Pistons rivalry kicked off in 1968, and since then, there has been a total of 257 regular season games played between Milwaukee and Detroit. Milwaukee has the historical advantage with 144 wins while the Pistons trail with 113 wins. The Central Division rivals have already played twice this season, once on Halloween and the second in early November. The Bucks took home the victory in both matchups, averaging 113.0 points over their two games against Detroit. The Pistons averaged 99.5 points over their two games against Milwaukee this season, and nearly stole a win from the Bucks in the first meeting, losing by just two points in a 108-110 loss. The Bucks and Pistons will face each other one more time after Monday’s contest, with Milwaukee likely to be heavily favored in each meeting.

Prediction

The Milwaukee Bucks have been without their superstar power forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo, for the last five games. Giannis has been nursing a knee injury he sustained during the Bucks win over the Atlanta Hawks on January, 11th, and has been sidelined ever since. The Bucks are 6-5 without Giannis on the floor this season, and fortunately for them, the “Greek Freak” is probable to play Monday against Detroit. Additionally, Milwaukee’s All-Star small forward Khris Middleton, who has only played seven games this season, is set to make his return alongside Giannis on Monday.

The return of Antetokounmpo and Middleton is excellent news for a Milwaukee Bucks team who are 6-4 in their last 10 contests, and are averaging 112.2 points per game over that same stretch. The Bucks are in a bit of a slump and desperately need a win to avoid sliding down the Eastern standing any further. Thankfully, they play a weak opponent in their next matchup, and will look to right the ship against a Pistons team that has struggled all season. The Bucks have a poor win-rate of 47.8% (11-12) on the road, but with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton set to return, Milwaukee will cruise past the Pistons for their 30th win of the season.

Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks Moneyline and the Under.
