The Golden State Warriors should be worried. They rode into the finals on a high horse as they beat the Dallas Mavericks in five games and watched the Celtics struggle to beat the Miami Heat in Game 7. This was a big reason for why the Warriors entered as favorites in this series, when honestly, they shouldn’t have. The Warriors seemed like they were going to dominate this game after Steph Curry opened the game and hit six three pointers in the first quarter, an NBA Finals record. But after scoring 21 points in just the first quarter, he only scored 13 more in the game and only hit one more 3. But there was one person who the Warriors really needed more contribution from. Draymond Green is a veteran in this league, has been an allstar plenty of times, has been a defensive player of the Year finalist multiple times, been in plenty of Finals games, and yet he played horribly in Game 1.
Draymond finished with four points on two for 12 shooting from the field, along with 11 rebounds and five assists. While the 11 rebounds and five assists were good, those four points from Draymond, who we all know is not a scorer, is unacceptable when you take twelve shots. Expect Draymond, who has plenty of NBA Finals experience to have a better game two in the points area, but fall behind on rebounds, as Robert Williams and Al Horford, who both had worse rebounding games than usual, get back into the mix.
