Matchup: Boston Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets
In a potential preview of the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics will take on the Denver Nuggets. Boston is leading the NBA with the best record in the league (48-13), while the Nuggets are just one win away from taking the lead in the West. Boston and Denver are nearly guaranteed to make the playoffs, but for both teams the main goal was always a championship ring. Denver is looking to repeat as champions, while Boston is hoping to add another trophy to their record breaking collection. The Nuggets handed the Celtics their first home loss of the season, beating Boston 102-100 in their first matchup, putting Denver in a position to sweep the Celtics with a win on Thursday.

Celtics vs. Nuggets History
The Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets have hit the century mark. Thursday will mark the 100th matchup between Boston and Denver, a momentous milestone for a must-watch matchup. The series began in 1976, and 48-years later, they’ve hit triple-digits. Historically Boston has dominated the Nuggets, posting a 60-39 record over Denver. But the reigning champs are on a 2-game win streak against the Celtics. Denver handed Boston their first home loss of the season, something only two other teams have managed to do, and now Boston must win in order to avoid being swept by the defending champs.
Celtics vs. Nuggets Game Predictions
It’s going to be a great game, and I urge everyone to tune in, but I like the Denver Nuggets over the Boston Celtics. This one is going to feel like a playoff game, as both sides are looking to make a statement. Denver embarrassed Boston on their home court earlier this season, and the Celtics will certainly be out for revenge. But like Boston, it’s not easy to win in Denver, as the Nuggets have an 80% win-rate at home, while the Celtics have a 65.5% win-rate on the road. Both teams are coming off losses, which snapped sizable win-streaks (Boston W11; Denver W6), and you can bet they’ll both be looking to get back in the win column, especially against their cross-conference rivals.
The oddsmakers have it right putting the spread so low, as this is bound to be a great game, but I’m putting my money on Denver. Nikola Jokic is the conductor of the offense, and has excellent support from his teammates. Denver’s team chemistry is unmatched, and they’ll bring their A-game for Boston. The Celtics Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are a nightmare for the opposition, but Denver held the dynamic duo to just 35 combined points, 14.5 points under Tatum and Brown’s combined average of 49.5. Additionally, with their collective efforts dialed all the way up, baskets will be few and far between and I’m expecting a low-scoring game, so I like the under.
In summary, here are my picks for the Celtics vs. Nuggets Thursday night matchup:
- Moneyline Pick: Denver Nuggets (+100)
If you take the Nuggets Moneyline (+100): You bet $100 to win $100, for a total payout of $200, if the Nuggets win straight up.
- ATS Pick: Denver Nuggets (+1.5)
If you take the Nuggets to Cover the +1.5 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Nuggets win the game, or lose by less than 2-points.
- O/U Pick: Under (221.5)
If you take the Under on 221.5 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Celtics and Nuggets combine for less than 222 points.
