Ok, let’s get to our analysis and picks for the Milwaukee Bucks vs Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Milwaukee Bucks championship ceremony was held last week on Opening Night and the team has gotten off to a 3-1 start to the season both straight up and against the spread as it begins to defend its title.
The Timberwolves, meanwhile, started the season with three straight home games and went 2-1, so tonight they’ll be playing their first road game of the season.
This game will feature a match-up of two superstars as Minnesota’s Karl Anthony Towns will line up the Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. Towns is off to a great start to the season, averaging 29 points, 9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
The Bucks have got strong play from The Greek Freak and Khris Middleton and they’ve really needed their two stars to step up since center Brook Lopez has been sidelined, starting point guard Jrue Holiday has missed two of their four games due to a foot injury, and backup big man Bobby Portis is nursing a hamstring injury.
The TWolves offense has been running at a fast pace, leading the league so far in fast break points per game, but dictating the pace of a game is a lot easier to do when you are the home team, as Minnesota has been in all three games to start the season. It’s tough to set the pace on the road, especially when you are traveling to take on the defending NBA Champs.
Despite their injuries, we think Milwaukee has enough depth to dig in on the defensive end and slow the TWolves down, and if they do that it could be a long night for Minnesota if they’re forced to make some shots from the perimeter. The Timberwolves have struggled from the outside so far this season, shooting just 37%, and that’s from a three game sample on their home court.
So, for our Bucks vs Timberwolves Picks we’ll play Milwaukee to defend their home court and get the win and cover tonight.
