Matchup: New Orleans Pelicans vs. Brooklyn Nets

The surging New Orleans Pelicans will take on the struggling Brooklyn Nets this Tuesday in a cross-conference showdown. The Pelicans are 5th in the West after winning 7 of their last 10 games, but their spot in the postseason is far from secured. Conversely, the Nets are 11th in the East but with 4 and a half games separating them from a top-10 placement, Brooklyn’s chances of reaching the playoffs diminish considerably with every loss, and unfortunately the Nets have lost 3-straight. The Pels are coming off back-to-back wins, beating the Clippers and Trail Blazers at home, and while the Pelicans will be away against the Nets, New Orleans has the 4th-best road record in the NBA at 21-13 (61.7%). The odds are certainly against the Nets in this one, but as always, anything could happen.

Below you’ll find all of our picks for the Pelicans vs. Nets, including stats, scores, and betting advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips for Tuesday’s matchup between the Pelicans and Nets.

Pelicans vs. Nets History

This Tuesday marks the 2nd matchup of the season and the 46th matchup all-time between the New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets. It’s a young series that began in 2003 when New Orleans was the Hornets and the Nets were in New Jersey. Over the course of their 21 year history it’s been an incredibly even series, as the Nets lead by just one game with a 23-22 record against the Pelicans. However, New Orleans thrashed Brooklyn in their first game 112-85 in a 27-point blowout. The Pels are 1-4 in their last 5 games in Brooklyn, but their last visit ended in a 130-108 win for New Orleans.

Pelicans vs. Nets Game Predictions

I’m going with the New Orleans Pelicans in this one. The Pels are red-hot, winning back-to-back games and posting a 15-5 record (75%) in their last 20 games. The Nets on the other hand are floundering, posting three straight losses and a 6-14 record (30%) in their last 20. New Orleans demolished the Nets in their first meeting, as Brooklyn allowed 7 players on the Pelicans to record double-digit scoring figures, while not a single player on the Nets scored more than 17 points. Brooklyn averaged just 110.4 points per game in their last 10, and hit a low point on Sunday after their loss to the Spurs, while the Pelicans averaged a +10.1 point differential in their last 10, giving the Nets a tough hurdle to jump.

New Orleans is led by a talented Big-3, consisting of: Zion Williamson (22.6 PPG), Brandon Ingram (21.2 PPG), and CJ McCollum (18.4 PPG). The Nets will have a tough time slowing these three down, as Brooklyn is struggling to keep opponents away from the rim, allowing a league high 60 points in the paint per game in their last 3. The Pelicans are a top-10 team when it comes to scoring from inside the key, creating a difficult matchup for Brooklyn. Both teams desperately need a win, so the defense will be tight, which is why along with taking the Pelicans to win and cover, I also like the under. The Pels hit the under in 8 of their last 10, and I’m expecting another lock-down performance from the New Orleans defense.

In summary, here are my picks for the Pelicans vs. Nets Tuesday night matchup:

  • Moneyline Pick: New Orleans Pelicans (pending)
  • ATS Pick: New Orleans Pelicans (pending)
  • O/U Pick: Under (pending)
