Brooklyn Gets Road Kyrie

We all know Kyrie Irving‘s situation this season having refused to get vaccinated, and only being allowed to play in away games all season. He was only allowed to play his first home game on March 27th against the Hornets, but thanks to a 33-point showing by Lamelo Ball, his homecoming was spoiled in a 119-110 loss. They were able to follow that tough loss with a win against the Pistons on Tuesday night, but allowing 123 points to a team that averages 104 points per game, isn’t a recipe for success.

If we are looking at Kyrie’s situation objectively, he hasn’t played well at home this season. Of course we have a miniscule sample size as he’s only played two home games, but his stats have taken a big dip from them. In his 21 road games this season, he is averaging 27.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists, but in his last two home games, his statline average is 20-1.5-7.5. This is to be expected, as he hasn’t played in that arena all season, so expect him to bounce back tonight against the Bucks, as he has a couple things going for him.

The first is that the Bucks allow the 10th most points per game to the point guard position. They are allowing nearly 20 points per game to the position, and since Kyrie mainly dominates the position for the Nets until Ben Simmons plays, he’ll have plenty of opportunities. The second thing going for Kyrie is that in his previous Matchup against the Bucks, he had a then season high 38 points, including the game winning pair of free throws

The final positive for Kyrie in this game is the play of his superstar running mate, Kevin Durant. In the 11 games the duo has played together, Durant averages 1.5 more assists per game, and in his last 10 games, he’s averaging 2 assists more than his season average. These assist more than likely mean more opportunities for Kyrie to score. For a player like Kyrie who is widely considered a top point guard in the league, expect him to capitalize on all these things going for him in this matchup.

For our expert Brooklyn Nets vs Milwaukee Bucks Prop Prediction, take the over on Kyrie Irving points.
