The Pelicans and the Lakers are going to be taking each other on here in a game that both teams desperately want to win. The Lakers are one of the most interesting teams in the league. They are 26-32 on the season yet many believe they can make a legitimate run in the playoffs. They just traded for a whole new team basically and they haven’t had the full team be able to play yet as Lebron James is hurt and is dealing with a lingering heel injury. Lebron may be making his return to the court soon though and it may be in this game. It is going to be interesting to see a new look Lakers team. They need to start winning very soon though as they only have 24 games left in the season and they are the thirteen seed in the western Conference.
The Pelicans are in a worse spot than the Lakers are some would argue. They do have a better record as they sit at 30-28 on the season but they don’t have Zion Williamson right now. The Pelicans’ star player also suffered a setback last week that is going to keep him out for multiple weeks after the All Star break. Zion was the life of this team as they sat in first place at one point while he was playing. They have been pretty average this season at 28-29-1 ATS.
I like the Lakers to cover in this one. Despite the Lakers being one of the worst teams in the NBA in terms of covering the spread as they are 26-31 overall ATS. The Lakers are finally going to have their entire team here if Lebron James plays which I think he will. They will also be at home here in a game against a Pelicans team that I just cannot trust with Zion Williamson not playing. I think the Lakers pull away with a win here as their new look team plays like the contender many have said they are. The Pels drop a game here.
