Boston Celtics at Miami Heat: Conference Finals Game 4 Prediction, Player Props, and Betting Tips
Sam Batz
In a shocking turn of events, the 8-seed Miami Heat are leading the 2-seed Boston Celtics 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals, and on Tuesday, May 23rd, we could witness history. In 1999, the New York Knicks stunned the world as the first 8-seed to ever reach the NBA Finals. 24-years later, the Miami Heat look destined to become the 2nd 8-seed in history to reach the NBA Finals, and could be the first to win it all. Game 4 (8:30 PM EST, TNT) between Boston and Miami will be an interesting matchup. On the one hand, Boston is facing a humiliating elimination by sweep, which could be motivation enough to try to get at least 1 win in the series, but on the other hand, it’s been reported that the Celtics locker room is in shambles, and that Boston’s head coach Joe Mazzulla has lost control of his team, which bodes extremely well for the Miami Heat.
The Boston Celtics (+1.5; ML +100)
The Boston Celtics are spiraling out of control, and after entering the Eastern Conference Finals with a 78% chance to win the series, the Celtics find themselves down 0-3 to the Miami Heat with a 11% chance to reach the Finals. Boston is 8-8 (50.0%) this postseason, but reached the Conference Finals for the second-consecutive year after knocking out the Atlanta Hawks (4-2) and then the Philadelphia 76ers (4-3). The Celtics were looking strong and remained the favorites to win it all after the first two rounds, but then Boston ran into the Miami Heat, who ground those chances to dust. No team has ever comeback from an 0-3 deficit, and a telling press conference where Joe Mazzulla stated he “didn’t have them ready to play”, shows Boston is a shell of their former selves, and are simply playing not to lose.
The Miami Heat (-1.5; ML -120)
The Miami Heat have taken these playoffs by storm. Through 14 games, the Heat are 11-3 (78.6%), and after entering the Eastern Conference Finals with a 22% chance to beat Boston, are now one win away from the NBA Finals. Jimmy Butler has been lights-out in the playoffs, averaging 29.9 points per game, but the Heat have been bolstered by a tremendous team effort. In Game 3, Miami torched the Celtics 128-102, and had 6 players in double-digit scoring figures. Butler actually had his lowest scoring performance of these playoffs (16 points), but undrafted 3rd-year Point Guard Gabe Vincent led the Heat with 29 points. No one succeeds on their own, and if the Miami Heat continue to perform at such a high-level, they could easily become the lowest-seed to ever win an NBA title.

Celtics vs. Heat: Bold Player Prop
Gabe Vincent (Heat Point Guard): Over 11.5 Points (-120)
Gabe Vincent went off in Game 3, recording 29 points off of 11-14 (78.6%) shooting from the field. Vincent also went 6-9 (66.7%) from 3-point range, and added 3 assists and 2 rebounds to the stat line. The Celtics didn’t have an answer for Vincent in Game 3, and while he won’t be expected to lead all scorers again on Tuesday, Vincent will certainly have the green light, and the confidence, to keep taking his shots. I predict Gabe Vincent goes over 11.5 points in Game 4.
Celtics vs. Heat Game 4 Prediction
Take the Heat to win Game 4 on Tuesday. Miami will sweep Boston 4-0 and advance as the first 8-seed to reach the NBA Finals since 1999. The Celtics look utterly broken, and after their humiliating Game 3 defeat, Boston may just look to pack-it-up and try again next year. Miami seems to have an answer for anything the Celtics throw at them, and after coach Mazzulla’s disheartening press conference, Boston isn’t likely to even believe they can come back from a 0-3 deficit. Miami’s team chemistry is palpable, and on Tuesday, the Heat will eliminate the Boston Celtics from title contention.
Prediction: Miami Heat Moneyline (-120)
