Boston Faces Milwaukee In Eastern Conference Showdown | Celtics vs Bucks | OSB
Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks
By Sam Batz
The Milwaukee Bucks will host the Boston Celtics in Fiserv Forum arena on Tuesday, Feb. 14th in a battle for league supremacy. Not only are Boston and Milwaukee the two best teams in the Eastern Conference, but are the two best teams in the entire league. The Celtics have been the top-dogs for most of the year, but after a spectacular winning streak by Milwaukee, the Bucks are hot on the heels of the league’s best.
The Boston Celtics are the 1 seed in the East with a record of 41-16. They are the first, and only, team to reach 40+ wins on the season thus far, and will look to make it five consecutive wins on Tuesday. The Celtics are 6-4 in their last 10 games, but racked up four-straight wins over the past week. They are coming off an impressive 119-109 victory over the Western Conferences 2 seed, the Memphis Grizzlies. Incredibly, Boston saw double-digit scoring from 8 out of the 9 guys that played, led by Derrick White (23 points) and Sam Hauser (20 points). The Celtics roster depth is no joke, and has been the key to their success this year. Boston doesn’t need to rely on their top-players, like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, to post huge numbers every game. If their main scorers are having an off-night, they have other options on offense, a luxury many teams don’t possess. Boston is the most well-rounded team in the league, and while they certainly have a target on their backs as the team to beat, they are also the biggest team to fear.
The Milwaukee Bucks are the 2 seed in the East, and are hottest-team in the league right now after winning 10 consecutive games. On the year, the Bucks are 39-17 and are now just 1.5 games behind the Celtics. Milwaukee is returning home after a three-game road trip where they went 3-0 and averaged 120.3 points per contest. In their most recent matchup, the Bucks took down the Los Angeles Clipper 119-106, taking them to an 18-4 record against the West. While the short road-trip went about as well as it could have for Milwaukee, they will be happy to be back home where they have won 82.1% of their matchups. The Bucks are led by the sensational 7x All-Star, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is averaging the third most points per game (32.4) and the most rebounds per game (12.3). When Giannis is in top-form, the Bucks are capable of beating anyone. That notion will be tested on Tuesday, as Giannis and the Bucks take on the Celtics in a matchup dripping with postseason-like energy.

Celtics vs. Bucks Game Changers
Boston Celtics
- Robert Williams III is back on the floor for the Celtics after recovering from an injury that forced him to miss 35 games this year. With Williams on the court, Boston is 15-7 and allowing just 108.2 opponent points per game.
- Jaylen Brown (head/face) and Marcus Smart (ankle) are Out with injuries and will not play on Tuesday.
- Grant Williams, Malcolm Brogdon, and Jayson Tatum are all listed as “Day-to-Day” but are Probable for Tuesday.
Milwaukee Bucks
- Recently acquired power forward, Jae Crowder, will be unavailable for Milwaukee’s next two games this Tuesday and Thursday.
- Forward Bobby Portis is listed as Out, but Milwaukee’s head coach, Mike Budenholzer, said he has returned for partial practices.
Prediction
I would take the Celtics over the Bucks in this matchup. Boston is the best team in the league for a reason, and while the Bucks are on a 10-game hot-streak, I think the Celtics will be too much to handle as the pressure of the winning-streak mounts for Milwaukee. The Celtics are dealing with several injuries, but due to the depth of talent on their roster, they should fare a decent chance against the Bucks. Regardless of the fact that Milwaukee is right behind Boston in the standing, the Celtics are a better overall team. They have a more highly ranked offense and defense, and the thrill of this highly anticipated matchup will push Boston to victory.
- Prediction: Boston Celtics Moneyline and the Over.
