This is a game between two Eastern Conference opponents who have been underperforming expectations this season. The Celtics and the Knicks are a combined 36 and 39 as of right now. They have both been mediocre sub .500 teams this season. The Celtics came into this season as an Eastern Conference contender. Behind Tatum and Brown, they were supposed to be up there with the league’s heavyweights. The Knicks were riding high into this season after finishing 41-31 last season and 4th in the East. They have sputtered this season though as they are 27th in points per game this season. Their defense is still phenomenal as they are sixth in the NBA in points per game but the offense cannot keep up. The Celtics are playing better as of late though and will come into this game off of a back-to-back. On the other hand, the Knicks have been playing stellar defense as of late giving up 95 points or less in five of their last six games. I expect the Celtics to come into this game a bit flat off a back to back and the Knicks defense to continue to excel.
