A Very High-Scoring Game 

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors take on the San Antonio Spurs on November 14th at 9 PM CST. The Warriors are coming off their champion season with a record of 5-7 and sitting 11th in the Western Conference. The San Antonio Spurs sit with a 6-7 record and are 9th in the Western Conference. The spread is -8 in favor of the warriors. 

For the Warriors, starting the season was a struggle. They were initially 3-7; however, they are currently on a 2-game winning streak. Last game, they played the Clevland Cavaliers, who are 3rd in the eastern conference. They won 106-101. Curry continues to be lights out. He had his second straight 40-point performance. Curry currently ranks second in the NBA, averaging 33.3 points per game. He continues to lead the Warriors in assists averaging 6.7. Klay Thompson continues to struggle. Last game, he shot 3-13 from the field, scoring only 9 points. The Warrior’s offense continues to be impactful. The Warriors have always loved to shoot the ball, and this year still are efficient. They are ranked 4th in the NBA with three-pointers made and are efficient when shooting, with a true shooting percentage of 59.1(4th in the NBA). The Warrior’s offense is lethal, with an effective field goal percentage of 55.8 (4th in the NBA). The Warriors love to move the ball around well, ranking 3rd in the NBA with 28.6 assists per game. Andre Iguodala is still listed as out for this game with a hip injury. 

For the spurs, it has been a season of surprises. Most preseason rankings had the spurs finishing 30th in the NBA but sitting 9th in the Western Conference. Last game, they defeated the number 1 team in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks, by a score of 111-93. They were very efficient during the game shooting 50% from the field. Small forward Keldon Johnson is having a career year for the spurs averaging 23.6 points per game. Last time out, Keldon Johnson had a big game, scoring 29 points, shooting 52.9% from the field and 62.5% from three. Like the Warriors, One major part of Spur’s offense is moving the ball. The Spurs currently rank first in the NBA with assists per game, averaging 29.3. However, although the Spurs get all these assists, they still have a poor offensive rating, with 110.9, ranked 23rd in the NBA. One significant injury for the spurs is Power Forward Zach Collins, who is listed as out with a lower leg injury. 

This is going to be a very high-scoring game. The spurs are ranked 28th in the NBA in defensive rating. The warriors sit one spot above them with a defensive rating of 116. Both teams are also very close in other states, including turnover. The Warriors are ranked 25th, and the spurs are ranked 29th. Another major category is that they are comparable in rebounds. The Warriors are ranked 24th in the NBA with 41.5 rebounds per game, while the spurs are ranked 22nd in the NBA with 41.9 rebounds per game.

It is hard to tell who is going to win this game. Yes, the warriors are significant favorites in this game. However, they are both similar teams. One Key factor for this game is Steph Curry. He has looked good all season, and his good form will continue against a lackluster Spurs defense. Therefore, I am taking Spurs -8.
