They had won three of four but then lost two games in a row to the Mavericks and the Bucks. The Clippers came into this year with many people picking them to win the entire thing as Paul George and Kawhi Leonard were finally healthy going into the year. They have not started off too hot as they are just three games above 500 at 31-28. They are the sixth seed in the West right now and nine games back of first place. They have been the number one team in the league in terms of hitting the under this year. This is largely due to the fact that they are the sixth slowest team in the NBA in terms of pace. They also rely on their defense as they are one of the longest teams in the NBA. They are still the fifth most favored team in the NBA as their title odds sit at around +1200 on most books. They need to pick it up soon.
The Warriors are not having the year they envisioned. They are the defending NBA champions but are at risk of not making the playoffs right now as they sit at the nine seed in the West. They are just 2.5 games ahead of the 13th seed in the West. The Warriors have dealt with injuries this year though as they just lost their best player and all time great Stephen Curry to a knee injury. The initial reports suggest he is going to be out at least a month. The Warriors are in real trouble now. They have also lost two straight games. Their problem is on the road. They are a dismal 7-21 on the road this season which ranks fourth to last in the NBA. They are 21-7 at home though. So they need to figure out how to translate their home success to the road.
I like the Clippers in this one. Both of these teams have lost two in a row but I think the Clippers avoid a third straight loss. Not only are they clearly the better team right now with Stephen Curry being out of the lineup but the Warriors are on the road. As the away team this season the Warriors are horrible ATS. They are 8-19. That is the worst ATS record this season on the road. The Clippers should dominate this game with both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George playing. The Warriors are not playing well and have to go on the road against one of the NBA’s top teams. I don’t see them keeping this close.
