If you put this game in mid January, or even just last week, I would be betting the 76ers -5.5 with confidence. They are the 2 seed in a packed Eastern Conference and have quite possibly the best duo of superstars in the league in Joel Embiid and James Harden. With that being said, what’s changed to date is the fact that the No. 2 seed might be staring down the barrel of a first round matchup against the Brooklyn Nets who are looking like the scariest 8th seed of all time. 

Brooklyn hasn’t been a whole team the whole season and there’s a reason they are still only in the 8th seed currently. Kevin Durant has missed 27 games due to injury and the Nets went 8-19 in that stretch. Kyrie has had his vaccine situation all season, but recent events have shown that starting Sunday Kyrie Irving will be able to play in home games. Kyrie has been nothing short of spectacular this season averaging 28.5 points when he has been able to play. 

This all tracks back to the 76ers because they have been resting their stars recently in order to “tank” a little to try to lock up the No. 3 seed as opposed to the 2 seed. They have benched Joel Embiid and James Harden in 2 of their last 5 games, and are making it obvious what their plan is. 

The Clippers are a team with nothing to lose, and would enjoy nothing more than to play spoiler, (or so they think).
