Trailing three games to one, the Golden State Warriors survived to play another day in Monday night’s Game 5 of this year’s NBA Finals. They kept this best-of-seven series alive with a thrilling 106-105 victory against the Toronto Raptors closing as one-point road underdogs.
The series now heads back to the West Coast for Thursday night’s Game 6 in Oakland. OnlineSportsBet has opened the Warriors as 3.5-point home favorites with the total line set at 210.5 points. Game time from Oracle Arena on ABC is 9 p.m.
Kevin Durant saw his first action in this series on Monday night but his return to the court was brief due to another injury. After missing his last nine games with a bad calf strain, it is believed that Durant may have torn his Achilles. He ended the game with 11 points in 12 minutes of playing time. The trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green pressed on to secure the one-point win.
Curry scored a game-high 31 points while going 10-for-23 from the floor. Thompson added 26 points after connecting on seven of his 13 shots from three-point range and Green posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, Golden State shot 46.3 from the field and 47.6 percent from three-point range is what was its most consistent effort in the first five games of this series.
Toronto had its chances to seal the deal on its first NBA title in franchise history. Four of the Raptors’ five starters scored in double figures led by Kawhi Leonard’s 26 points. He also pulled down 12 rebounds and dished out six assists to lead the way. Toronto shot 44.7 percent from the field but its downfall in this game was a dismal 8-for-32 shooting performance from three-point range.
Moving onto Game 6 in Oakland, the Warriors are 6-4 straight-up and 3-7 against the spread in 10 previous playoff games at home. The total has been evenly split 5-5 on BetAnySports’ closing line. Toronto heads back on the road with a SU 6-4 record in 10 postseason road games while going 5-5 ATS. The total stayed UNDER in seven of those 10 games played on the road.
