The Utah Jazz always seem to be handicapped by the absence of one of their star players. Rudy Gobert had been out essentially for three games before returning on Sunday, but Gordon Heyward, who had scored 40 points in the previous contest, had to leave with food poisoning. Hayward is officially listed as questionable, but we assume he’ll play in Game 5, as Utah has the opportunity to once again take advantage of the absence of Blake Griffin from the Clippers’ lineup. Even though the Jazz were missing Hayward in the second half, they didn’t need him to come through with a big rally. But that is the way they’re going to have to get it done the rest of the series, at least if Gobert doesn’t aggravate the knee he hyperextended in the first 20 seconds of Game 1.

Chris Paul is the guy who has had to take over for Los Angeles, and he’s doing a hell of a job with it. The presence of Gobert took some pressure off Derrick Favors, who had been playing in the pivot and was overworked, coming off his knee injury. Favors only had to log 24 minutes on Sunday, and he looked refreshed, scoring 17 points. The Jazz got a lot of production out of the reserves, with 66 bench points.
