NBA ODDS & PREVIEW — LA CLIPPERS AT OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (3/9)

The Oklahoma City Thunder are probably still kicking themselves about the lead they blew the last time they played against the Los Angeles Clippers. Now this is the time for them to redeem themselves, and create a little more distance ahead of the Clippers in the playoff race.

This game is slated to get underway at 9:35 PM ET at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, and BetAnySports customers can stay involved in the action even beyond the opening tip as they challenge the NBA odds in real time through the facilities of Live Betting Extra.

The Thunder (43-20 straight-up, 23-37-2 against the basketball pointspread) is the third place team in the West, a game and a half ahead of the Clippers, who are 41-21 SU and 31-28-3 ATS. Neither of these clubs is going to catch either Golden State or San Antonio for the top two spots in the West, but they may have to play those titans in the event they advance to the second round of the post-season.

The last time these teams played, which was just a week ago, the Clippers came from way back; they were 20 points down at the half, and, even with eight minutes remaining, they were still 16 points behind. But then they roared back to win by five points and took advantage of poor shot selection on the part of the Thunder, which hit only 39.8%. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined to hit just a little higher than 40%.

In the NBA odds posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Thunder lays points at home:

Oklahoma City Thunder -5.5

Los Angeles Clippers +5.5

Over 215 points -110

Under 215 points -110

Interestingly enough, the Thunder got crushed psychologically the night after losing to the Clippers. They blew an eleven-point lead to Golden State in what was, to pardon the pun, a golden opportunity. And in their last game, they were leading Milwaukee by 21 points and let that advantage slip all the way down to five. However, they held on to win. OKC has lost six of its last nine games.

The Clippers would dearly love to have Blake Griffin back in the lineup, but he continues to be sidelined with a hand injury. In his absence, Los Angeles has had to get DeAndre Jordan more involved with activity on the inside, and even more significantly, Chris Paul has really stepped up, scoring almost 25 points per game over his last ten.

BetAnySports patrons would notice that there is a big disparity between these teams when it comes to their ability to make free throws. OKC is 78.8% accurate, while the Clippers are third from the bottom at 69.2%. Jordan leads the league in field goal percentage at 69% (he could win that distinction for the fourth straight year), but he is just 43.2% from the line, which is dreadful.

As far as technical trends are concerned, the Clippers have played ten of their last 13 games under the total, while the Thunder are 2-5-2 ATS over their last nine. They have shot 47% from the field at home, averaging 108.5 ppg, which is less than they have scored on the road. They have done better defensively at the Peake, yielding 100 ppg and 43.5% shooting.
