NBA FINALS ODDS & PREVIEW – GAME 3: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS AT CLEVELAND CAVALIERS (6/8)

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won all seven games they have played at home during the playoffs, and that is obviously a good thing. But it can be argued that the conditions they were facing during those games, especially when they had the basketball in their hands, were a lot different than what they have encountered thus far against the Golden State Warriors. Either Cleveland has to open up with the three-point artillery, or develop a really good inside game. One way or another, they have to put some points on the board, because this thing is slipping away from them. They have lost the first two games of the NBA Finals by a combined 48 points, and so they come into Quicken Loans Arena in a desperate situation, in this game that begins at 9 PM ET. Remember that BetAnySports customers can place their wagers even after the game begins, using real-time odds that are constantly changing, and the exciting and thrilling phenomenon known as Live Betting Ultra.

Certainly the Cavaliers are behind the eight-ball; of the teams that have been down two games to none in a playoff series, only three of the last 31 have gone on to ultimate victory. And remember that this is the defending world champions they are going up against; a team that has beaten them seven straight times by an average margin of over 18 points. Golden State has had the advantage in so many fundamentals that it’s almost silly. One of them is ball distribution, as the Warriors have run up 55 assists in the first two games, compared to just 32 for Cleveland. Lebron James has committed 11 turnovers. JR Smith has eight points combined. An Kyrie Irving a shooting just 33% overall.

In the NBA finals odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, it’s a pick ’em proposition:

You just can’t say enough about the job the Warriors have been doing on defense, shutting down a Cleveland team that had come into the series hitting 43% of their triples. Well, the Cavaliers are a 28% at the moment, and between JR Smith, Irving and Channing Frye, they have had only three treys thus far.

This is exactly how Golden State has managed to win both games resoundingly, despite comparatively minimal contributions from their “Splash Brothers” guard duo. In Game 1, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson combined for just 20 points on 8-27 shooting. In Game 2, Curry had 18 points, with Thompson adding 17. These are not explosive numbers, quite obviously. But they got a huge performance from Draymond Green, who scored 28 points, with five 3-pointers. And when the Warriors have missed, they have often earned the opportunity to get a second chance; in fact, they have rebounded 32.4% of their misses, which is a phenomenal percentage, especially for them.

BetAnySports patrons know that the Warriors are very good at “switching” on defense, which allows them to maintain one-on-one matchup’s and thus make long-distance shots more difficult. They also close out on shooters very well, after helping out on the inside. Cleveland is shooting 36.8% as a team, and just 44% in the paint, which is dismal.

Kevin Love, the power forward who is part of the “Big Three,” had concussion symptoms and had to be removed from Game 2. It is questionable as to whether he can play, although he was cleared to travel with the team back to Cleveland.

Cavaliers’ coach Tyronn Lue does not think his team is facing a “mental hurdle” right now, but that they just have to be able to drive with the basketball a lot better. No argument there, but it would really help if they could get the outside shots to fall.

Golden State is the decisive -900 favorite to win this NBA Finals series, while Cleveland is priced at +600 at BetAnySports, where you can get a great free play bonus, in addition to reduced juice on your basketball action as a standard.
