As part of this Tuesday’s double header of action on NBA TV, the Charlotte Hornets will travel to the Moda Center to face the Portland Trail Blazers in the first matchup of their upcoming three-game West Coast swing. Game time is set for 10 p.m. (ET).

Charlotte at Portland Game Preview

The Hornets have lost their last four games straight-up and they are just 2-7 against the spread in their last nine outings. The total has gone OVER in their last two games after staying UNDER in eight of their previous nine contests. Following Saturday’s 109-106 loss to Sacramento as a seven-point home favorite with BetAnySports, Charlotte heads to Portland with a SU 8-15 road record while going 9-13-1 ATS.

Kemba Walker continues to lead the Hornets in scoring this season with an average of 23.3 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field. He put up 26 points with seven assists in the losing cause to the Kings. Charlotte is ranked eighth in the NBA in points allowed; giving up an average of 103.6 PPG, but this number has jumped to 110.3 points during this current slide.

Portland’s SU three-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday in a tight 113-111 loss to Golden State as a six-point home underdog with BetAnySports. The total stayed UNDER the 225-point closing line and it has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games. The Trail Blazers are now 21-28 on the year (SU and ATS) and a game and a half out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They have gone 13-10 SU (11-12 ATS) on their home court this season.

Four of Portland’s five starters were in double figures in the loss to the Warriors with CJ McCollum leading the way with 28 points while going 5-for-7 from three-point range. Damian Lillard has been the Trail Blazers’ leading scorer this season with 26.2 PPG and he also leads the team in assists (5.9) He ended Sunday’s game with 19 points and eight assists. Portland is eighth in the league in scoring with an average 107.6 points a game, but it falls to 27th in points allowed (110.2).

Charlotte at Portland Free Game Prediction

I would probably lean towards Portland at home on Tuesday night, but my “best bet” pick is the OVER on BetAnySports’ current 215.5-point total line. Both teams are having issues lately on the defensive side of the ball.
