BASKETBALL ODDS PREVIEW – MIAMI HEAT AT LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 1/13
The Los Angeles Clippers are on a hot streak, but to some extent, they haven’t been tested to their fullest. That may or may not happen on Wednesday night as they play host to the Miami Heat in an NBA game that is set to begin at 10:35 PM ET at the Staples Center. BetAnySports customers can get reduced juice before the game, and even after the opening tip, they can continue challenging the basketball odds as they place wagers in real time through the considerable facilities of Live Betting Extra.
The Clippers (25-13 straight-up, 17-18 ATS) have won nine straight games, eight of them coming without superstar power forward Blake Griffin, who is out with a torn quadriceps tendon. However, they have not accomplished this against the cream of the crop of the NBA; in fact, even though Los Angeles has won six of these last nine games on the road, there has not been a win over a team with a record over the .500 plateau. But execution is execution, and they have stepped up on the defensive end, allowing the opponent to reach 45% shooting only twice during this streak.
The Heat (22-16 SU, 19-18 ATS) has been trying to find themselves since the departure of Lebron James. But they have put a new cast together around Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, and they currently are tied for the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference, a half game out of the fourth position occupied by the Chicago Bulls. At the Staples Center, they will be looking to even their road record (currently 7-8 straight-up).
In the basketball odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Clippers are the favorites
Los Angeles Clippers -5.5
Miami Heat +5.5
Over 197.5 points -110
Under 197.5 points -110
Chris Paul has picked up some of the scoring load in the absence of Griffin, averaging 21.1 points over his last 10 outings. The Clippers last played on Sunday, with Paul scoring 25 points in a 114-111 overtime win over the New Orleans Pelicans, who happened to be without their own superstar, Anthony Davis. Historically, this team has not been all that handicapped when Griffin has been out of the lineup, with a 20-8 straight-up record. Not that they would want to do this for an extended period of time. Currently they are #4 in the West, 11 games behind the blistering pace of the Golden State Warriors, but 3.5 games ahead of the Dallas Mavericks.
BetAnySports patrons should know that Miami is dealing with its own injury problems at the moment. Goran Dragic as a calf strain and has been sent home to take an MRI. So the Heat will have to go with Beno Udrih and Tyler Johnson to fill his guard spot opposite Wade, who has been cold lately, going just 9 of 37 in his last two games. The Heat is in the midst of a grueling odyssey, as they are playing eleven games on the road in a 12-game stretch. We will have to keep an eye on whether center Hassan Whiteside makes post here; he is questionable with a knee injury, and missed Monday’s game against Golden State. He was very effective against the Clippers the last time these teams met (a year and two days ago), as he had 23 points and 16 rebounds.
