Yankees Streak Snapped

The Yankees are on a tear, there’s no doubt about it. They are the hottest team in baseball by far, being the winner of their last 10 games, and sporting the best record in all of Major League Baseball at 17-6. Additionally, they’ve scored the third most runs in the league behind only the Mets and Angels, and have more impressively allowed the least amount of runs by far at only 67 through 23 games. This has them currently with the 2nd best team ERA in baseball at 2.69, with their three main rotational pitchers of Jordan Montgomery, Gerit Cole, Luis Severino all having an ERA of under 3.00.

The first game of this series, which is slated for three games, was a close one that took an RBI single from Gleyber Torres in the top of the 9th for the Yankees to get win number 10. Expect all these games to be close affairs as both these teams are betting favorites to win the world series. The Yankees currently have the fourth best odds at +1100, and the Blue Jays have the second best odds at +850. On the mound for the Yankees will be their starting pitcher with the best ERA for them in Nestor Cortes, who has allowed only 3 runs in 20.2 innings pitched.

The Blue Jays are no pushover however, as shown by their close game last night, and them being the team with the second best odds to win the World Series according to Vegas. They are currently in second place in the NL East, and are only 2.5 games behind the Yankees. The only thing that has been keeping this team back from truly taking that next step has been their inability to score runs with men on base. They have the 7th best team batting average, and yet only rank 20th in runs scored per game. That must change for them to go deep.
