Yankees Look to Snap Houston’s Streak

The New York Yankees are taking on the Astros for the 2nd series, 5th game, of the season. They are tied 2-2, but the Astros are certainly favored in this one. The Yankees are 65-69, putting them last place in the AL East with little to no chance to see the playoffs. New York went 5-5 in their last 10, averaging 4.2 runs, 6.5 hits, 2.2 home runs, but allowed just 30 runs against. 

The Houston Astros are playing under pressure. The AL East is as tight as it can be, and at 77-58, Houston is tied for the top spot with the Seattle Mariners. The Astros are playing well though, posting a 7-3 record in their last 10, and averaging 7.5 runs, 12.5 hits, 1.5 home runs, but giving up 52 runs against over the same stretch.  

Friday’s matchup will be an offense vs. defense kind of game, and although the Yankees have struggled this season, I like New York in this one. Having allowed just 3.0 runs per game in their last 10, the Yankees pitching has been nasty. Houston is lighting it up from the plate, but surprisingly, the Astros are actually better on the road. The New York Yankees, with their 2.2 home runs per game, will upset the Astros in the series opener.
