Yankees Go With Their Ace
The New York Yankees were upset 2-7 by the Rockies on Friday. The Yankees recorded 8 hits, which was 1 more than Colorado, but after a fast start scoring 2 runs in the 1st, New York went cold, failing to score a single run the rest of the game. Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run, but the usual big-bat Yankees did not show up to work on Friday, as only 4 other players recorded a hit. The Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, who is 9-2 with an ERA of 2.85 and 123 K’s, will be on the mound on Sunday, giving New York a great chance to avenge Friday’s loss.
The Rockies took down the Yankees in their first game back from the All-Star break, upsetting New York despite their underdog status. But the Rockies remain the underdogs for Sunday, and will be up against arguably the best pitcher in the MLB right now in New York’s Gerrit Cole. Chase Anderson will be on the mound for the Rockies, but he is 0-4 this season with a 1.55 WHIP. The 5-run win on Friday was impressive, but I don’t see the Rockies beating the Yankees again this series.
So for our Yankees vs. Rockies expert pick, take the New York Yankees to win on Saturday.
