Yankees Finally Snap Their Losing Streak

The New York Yankees are likely to miss the playoffs, breaking their 6 year streak. New York is 61-65, and after losing 9-straight they are 17.0 games back in the AL East. The Yankees went 1-9 in their last 10, averaging a measly 3.0 runs, 5.7 hits, and 1.2 home runs per game. New York is a top-5 team in terms of total home runs with 175 bombs on the season, but other than that, the Yankees have been an utter disappointment. 

The Tampa Bay Rays on the other hand have been brilliant. This year’s surprise breakouts, the Rays are 2nd in the AL East with a 77-51 record, giving them a very high probability to see the playoffs. This season, the Rays are 6-4 against the Yankees, with an O/U record of 7-3. The Rays have been a top-5 offense all season, and in their last 10 Tampa averaged 7.5 runs per game, recording a 7-3 record in the process.  

The O/U for Friday is set at just 6.5 runs. The Rays could hit that on their own. The Yankees are struggling, but with their ability to go yard they’ll score at least 2-3 runs. With the O/U set at such a low total, I like the over in this one.
